William “Bill” Richer

William “Bill” Richer, age 61, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Green Bay, WI on April 18, 2024.

 

Bill was born on September 22, 1962 to Sonny “Lawrence” Richer and Kathleen (Dugener) in Escanaba, MI.  He was a 1980 graduate of Gladstone High School.  He then went on to Bay De Noc Community College, where he earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Water Purification Technology in 1984.  Bill worked for several years at the Gladstone Waste Water Treatment plant before moving to Green Bay, WI.  There he was employed at Pioneer Metal Finishing as a Chemist until the time of his death.

Bill was an avid collegiate and professional sports fan.  Racing, baseball, and football were among his favorites.  He forever cheered for his beloved Buffalo Bills.  Bill was a trivia wiz and never forgot any information he read or heard.

 

Family was important to Bill.  His eight 8 nieces and nephews held a very special place in his heart.  Bill made many friends during his life journey, especially among his colleagues at Pioneer Metal. Many of them became family to Bill.  Bill was also very interested in genealogy and had traced back his heritage several centuries.

 

Bill is survived by his four siblings Dan (Becky) Richer of Zumbrota, MN, Amy (Al) Nystrom of Marshfield, WI, Lisa (Joel) Barta of Suamico, WI and Thomas (Katie) Richer of Spread Eagle, WI.  He is further survived by his nieces and nephews:  Luke Richer and his fiancé Malorie Casalegno of St. Paul, MN, Ben Richer of Minneapolis, MN, Danielle and Bradley Nystrom both of Marshfield,WI, Lauren Barta of Minneapolis, MN, James Barta of Green Bay, WI, Nicole (Tyler) Romback of Negaunee, MI and great niece Sophia Richer of Weston, WI and great nephew Melvin Romback of Negaunee, MI.  He is further survived by many family and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his nephew Thomas (TJ) Richer as well as his parents and paternal and maternal grandparents.

 

Bill was a good man and his laugh, smile and friendship will be missed by many.

A memorial in Bill’s name will be designated at a future time.

Family will receive friends on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 11 AM to 1 PM eastern time at Holy Family Catholic Church in Flat Rock. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1 PM eastern time with Rev. Fr. Sebastian Chacko officiating. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall.

    Billy Richer. I see the same smiling mischievous face that I saw in my first class of fourth graders. What a joy he was. I’m so sorry for his family left behind. Prayers for Bill and prayers for his family.

    Bill was always a joy to be around. A good and kind man. I share my love, sadness and condolences.
