Virginia L. Sundling, age 74, of 9892 U.S. Hwy 2, Rapid River, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 25, 2014 at the Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba surrounded by her loving family.

Virginia was born April 22, 1939 in Escanaba, the daughter of Louis and Adeline (Artley) Brunette. She was united in marriage to Rodger D. Sundling on January 18, 1958, together they raised their 5 children and made their home in the Rapid River area.

Virginia was raised in Gladstone, attended Holy Name Schools, and was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church and Rapid River Senior Center. She enjoyed the company of her pet cats, Kitters and Sam, and also enjoyed feeding the birds, rabbits and deer on their property. Family was very important to her and she loved to spend time with them, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered for being a wonderful cook and having a kind heart. Her family will miss her special holiday dinners and home baked cookies. Her hobbies included playing bingo and taking casino trips.

In addition to her husband of 56 years, Rodger, survivors include:

Larry D. (JoJean Miller) Sundling, Susan (Mike) Hebert, Kenneth (Dawn) Sundling,
Dale Sundling, and Sherri (Frank Bushey) Sundling.

Brothers: Louis (Irene) Brunette, Wallace (Iona) Brunette, and William (Judy) Brunette,

Sister: Sharon (Allen) Lanaville

7 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

    My thought and prayers are with you all. I have many wonderful memories of Virginia as a young child to an adult. As a teen I got the pleasure of working with her at the Pantry and of course spent many nights at her home with my dearest friend Sherri. You wont be forgotten. Much love to you all!

    So sorry for your loss. Virginia was such a wonderful and kind lady. So many wonderful memories to cherish. I can see that smile she always had on her face for everyone. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

    It’s hard to say good-bye to such a special friend, Virginiia. she always remembered you and greeted you with a smile and a good visit anywhere. I truly will miss seeing her broad smile as we met in the isle of some local store and visited. Such a special friend will be missed by many. God Bless her special family and they are in my prayers and heart daily.

    so sorry to hear of Virginia’s passing. We went to school together. Have known her for many years. She will be missed.

    I will miss Virginia’s smile and sweet spirit. When ever I saw her around town she had both a sweet smile and a sweet spirit. I am praying for the whole family.
