Ted A. Bartczak, age 84, of Rock, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at LakeHouse Assisted Living in Escanaba.

Ted was born on February 20, 1940 in Stambaugh, Michigan, the son of Casimir and Bertha (Deladio) Bartczak. Ted was united in marriage to the former Jacqueline “Jackie” Whitman on June 11, 1960. Together they shared 63 years together. Ted worked as a road and bridge construction project engineer for 31 years through the Michigan Department of Transportation. He also was a member of the Rock Lions Club, Mapleridge Township Board, Tri-Township Board, and the Superior Deer Management Board. He enjoyed camping, trapping, hunting, fishing, and traveling on bus trips. But most importantly, he loved spending time with his family. They will miss him dearly.

Ted is survived by his loving wife Jackie; children Todd (Tammy) Bartczak, Terry Bartczak, and Jill (Pat) Strahl; sister Pat Presti; grandchildren Jon Bartczak, Bobby Bartczak, Tony Bartczak, Taylor Bartczak, Tanner Taylor, TJ Bartczak, Tara Strahl, Dominique Depas, and Desmond DePas; 14 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Gwen Bayerl.

 Family will receive on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services honoring Ted will begin at 1 PM with Rev. Fr. William Ssozi officiating. Ted will be laid to rest in the Stambaugh Cemetery.

    Ted was a wonderful man who I so enjoyed taking care of. His smile and laugh I will miss so much.

    Jackie, sorry to read of Ted’s passing. We sure had fun on Gold Star bus trips. Lots of memories and many games of “pig”. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.

    I enjoyed working with Ted at MDOT, since he was open and honest and had a good sense of humor. I’m sorry for your family’s loss of him.
