Suzanne Lorraine (Shirk) Alexander, age 68, of Tucson, AZ and formerly of Gladstone, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital, in Tucson, following a lengthy illness.

Suzanne was born December 11, 1945, in Escanaba, the daughter of Lawrence and Frances (Hicks) Shirk. She was raised in Gladstone and was a graduate of the Gladstone High School. Suzanne went on to attend Bay de Noc Community College, where she studied nursing and eventually received her LPN degree. Suzanne provided private nursing care in Escanaba before relocating to Waukesha, WI, where she resided for many years before moving to Tucson where she has remained since. Suzanne was a longtime member of Community of Christ Church. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. Suzanne was a very caring, compassionate, lovely hearted person and will be deeply missed.

Shane (Kathy) Shirk of Sheboygan Falls, WI
Sisters: Peggy (Glen) Brown of Independence, MO
Laurie (Ken) VanDrese of Cornell, MI
Grandchildren: Jonathan, Charrack, Louis, Angelica and Keeley Lefferman and
Breanna Thorton
Also surviving are numerous loving great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Frances:

Sisters: Irma Anderkin and Sharon Shirk
Brother: Paul Shirk
Nephews: Jeff VanDrese and Kevin Peterson

Memorial services for Suzanne are tentatively scheduled to take place over the 4th of July holiday at the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.

The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting with arrangements. Additional information will be forthcoming in a future posting.
