Scott Ebner

Resided in Gladstone, MI
Died October 5, 2023
Scott Joseph Ebner, 70, of Gladstone, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at his home with his wife, Lisa, by his side.
Scott was born on August 27, 1953, in Ishpeming, the son of Joseph and Donna (Mills) Ebner. He grew up in Crystal Falls and graduated from Crystal Falls High School. He also graduated from NMU with his Bachelor’s Degree in teaching.
Scott met his wife of 40 years, Lisa Harju, in 1982 while snowmobiling with friends. They married on May 25, 1983. Over the years, they would go on many snowmobile and motorcycle rides together. In more recent years, they spent their weekends at Camp working on projects together.
Scott was the proud father of two daughters, Jennifer and Jessica. He was the best Dad a girl could ask for and was loved very much. He was always there with a hearty Ebner laugh or to provide comfort with a kind ear and soft heart.
He was a selfless man who was always willing to help others. He spent his summers helping family, friends and neighbors renovate their homes, build camps, and other various projects.
As the auto shop teacher at Gladstone High School for 20 years, he hosted Night Shop on Wednesday nights where the community could bring their cars for his students to work on and further their auto repair experience. Cars and trucks were his passion. In addition to working on countless vehicles for family, friends and students, he restored many of his own vehicles and would always share stories of his 1970s Pontiac Firebird. Prior to his death, he was restoring his “Pa’s” ‘72 Chevy C-10 camp truck.
Scott also enjoyed hunting, was a proud Boy Scout, and a Green Bay Packer fan. He made a strong impact on the lives around him, and he will be missed by many.
Scott is survived by his loving wife, Lisa, children Jennifer (Andy Whiteman) Ebner and Jessica Ebner, siblings Sandy (Russell) Bruneske and Betty Ebner, nieces Mary and Bree Bellefeuille, and grand-niece Jordan Ebner.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents and niece Michele Bellefeuille.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 10, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM at Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone and services honoring Scott will follow visitation at 4:30 PM with Rev. Fr. Brandon Yanni officiating. A luncheon will follow services at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Gladstone.

7 Tributes for “Scott Ebner

He was so kind. A quiet man, but when he spoke, he made me laugh. My final encounter with him was filled with laughter. Thank you Scott for being an amazing brother-in-law.

This is a time when I can hardly come up with the right words to express my sadness. My heart and prayers go out to Lisa, family and friends who, like me, will miss him dearly. Scott, I know we didn’t stay in touch much over the recent years, but I will always cherish the time we worked together at Gladstone High School. You touched so many lives. Thank you for so many fond memories.

Mr. Ebner made a huge impact on my life at a very young age. He was the only teacher I had that truly lived his craft. The best teacher a kid could ask for. He’ll be greatly missed. My condolences to his wife and family.

He was a great role model. As a young student, after taking his classes he selected me to be a student teacher. First in his small engines class and then in his automotive shop. His kindness and wisdom were unmatched. I thank him for always believing his students could do anything. And for the extra mile he went in everything he did. I know he made me a better person. My heart goes out to Lisa and his family. My Gladstone auto shop coat is still one of my most prized possessions. He is truly missed.
