Robert Daly

Gladstone, MIRobert E. “Bob” Daly, age 91, of Gladstone, passed away Saturday morning October 29, 2016 at the Lakeview Assisted Living Center in Gladstone following a lengthy illness.

Bob was born April 26, 1925 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of John E. and Jenna May (Wood) Daly. He was raised in Grand Rapids where he graduated from high school. Following graduation he served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp. from 1943 to 1946. Upon his honorable discharge in 1946, he was awarded the American Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal.

Bob received his degree in Business from the University of Michigan in 1950. Upon graduation he was a Sales Rep. for Michigan Bell and he later became Vice President of National Sales for the Yellow Pages. While working for Michigan Bell, he met and married Anne Quinn of Gladstone. They were united in marriage on April 25, 1953 at All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone. They made their home in Grand Rapids, eventually moving to Birmingham, MI where they raised their 2 daugthers. Prior to moving to Gladstone in 1990, they resided in Rochester.

Bob was a member of All Saints Church in Gladstone and the Lake Bluff Golf Club. Bob and Anne enjoyed their many travels while Bob was working and following his retirement. He will be sadly missed.

In addition to his wife of 63 years, Anne, survivors include:

Daughters: Kathy (Norm Brinkman) Sheridan of Sterling Heights, MI and Susan (Wayne) Porter of Naperville, IL

6 grandchildren: Mary Sheridan, Anne Sheridan, Colleen (John) Bache, Jack Porter, Tom Porter and Katie Porter

1 great grandson: Jack Bache

Numerous nieces, nephews and many cousins also survive.

In addition to his parents, his sister, Carol Wierenga and brother, Jack Daly preceded Bob in death.

Bob’s family will receive friends on Wednesday November 2, 2016 from 10:00 to 10:30 am at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone with Rev. Fr. Jamie Ziminski and Rev. Fr. Brian Gerber officiating. Luncheon will follow in All Saints Church Parish Hall. Burial will follow at the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.
