Richard “Rocky” Semashko, 87, of Gladstone passed away at home on Thursday, January 19, 2023.
Richard was born June 28, 1935 in Gladstone, the son of Peter and Barbara (Rodman) Semashko. He served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1972 after 20 years of service. While in the Air Force, Richard met Judith Thompson. They were united in marriage, in England, on November 24, 1962. Richard eventually returned to Gladstone and worked as a letter carrier for the United States Post Office for 11 years. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church where he played on the All Saints Dart Ball Team and he owned and operated B&D TV Clinic with his brother, Robert for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, collecting antiques and was a NASCAR and Detroit Lions fan.
Richard is survived by his wife, Judy of 60 years, his children, Robert (Donna) Semashko of Goose Creek, SC, Richard (Pam) Semashko of Gladstone and Belinda Semashko of Gladstone; grandchildren, Richard Semashko, Tiffiny (J.T.) Uhrhan and Francis Semashko and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Francis, Peter, John and Robert, sister Barbara “Dolly” Schram, brother-in-law John Thompson and sister-in-law Mary Wright.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 23 from 10:00 AM to 12:15 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Military Honors will be presented at 12:15 PM by the Gladstone American Legion Post 71. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 PM at All Saints Catholic Church with Fr. Jamie Ziminski officiating. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall.

    I am so sorry I can’t be with you, but please know my heart and spirit are there with you at this most difficult time. I will always remember his smile he will be very missed.     Rocky’s smile and friendly spirit was all ways present when every we met. I am praying for Judy and the family that my awesome God finds away to turn many of their tears into joyous memories and comfort their hearts along the way. I would be there but tomorrow I have a heart catherization and need to make sure I am rested and germ free. God bless you all.
