Raymond “Ray” Verbrigghe, age 85, of St. Nicholas passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
Ray was born September 30, 1928 in St. Nicholas, the son of Henry and Louise (DeGrand) Verbrigghe. Ray was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Perkins and loved to work on the family farm, gardening, going to camp, cutting the grass and visiting with family.
Ray is survived by seven brothers, Leo, Francis, Matt, Lenny, Joe, Hank and Dennis and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, two sisters, Mary Jane Ledvina and Donna Mileski, three infant brothers, and a brother, Donald Verbrigghe.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 16 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. The Rosary will be recited at 4:30 PM at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 6:00 PM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Perkins with Rev. Fr. Jacek Wtyklo officiating. A luncheon will follow services in the church fellowship hall. Ray will be laid to rest in the St. Nicholas Cemetery.
