Ray L. Sischo, age 101, Trenary passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette.
Ray was born May 5, 1912 in Clark County, Wisconsin, the son of Henry and Alice (Brown) Sischo. He was united in marriage to Luella Hoy on July 6, 1943. Ray served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945 and is a veteran of World War II . He worked for the Cliffs-Dow Chemical Company in Marquette for several years as a carpenter and in the maintenance department. He was a member of the Trenary United Methodist Church, the Senior Citizens Club of Trenary and the Gladstone American Legion August Mattson Post 71.
Ray is survived by his sons, Raymond (Mary) Sischo Jr. of Marquette, Bruce (Maria) Sischo of the Philippines; his daughter, Shirley (Don) Powelson of Gladstone; daughter-in-law, Grace Sischo of Harrison, MI and numerous grandchildre, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, son, Luther “Bill” Sischo, grandson, Scott Powelson and his brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 17 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Military Honors will be presented at 1:45 PM at the funeral home by the Gladstone American Legion August Mattson Post 71. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Sandra J. Kolder officiating. Ray will be laid to rest in the Trenary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Ray’s name may be directed to the D. J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans – Activities Fund.
