Ralph Robbins Dollhopf, 85, of Gladstone, passed away peacefully at his home, Wednesday evening, April 04, 2012 with his loving wife and children at his side, along with the support of OSF Hospice.
Ralph was born on April 21, 1926 in Saginaw, Michigan, the only son of the late Ralph Herman and Hazel (Robbins) Dollhopf. He served his country twice, during the Korean War and World War 11 serving on the U.S.S. Norton Sound and the U.S.S. Laws .During 1944 and returning in 1951. Being a Veteran was a proud honor and he instilled the duty of service and giving back to all his children. After attending Michigan State University, he discovered Curtis, Michigan. Here he built a small cabin allowing for many years of family memories and precious friends. He married JoAnne C. Puckett in Newberry, Michigan in 1950.
Ralph worked for the Michigan Department of Transportation for thirty four years, retiring in 1984. During his years as a civil servant worked throughout the Upper Peninsula creating road construction. Later, working for Sundberg/Carlson Associates.
In his retirement years he and his wife enjoyed traveling to see their children and family. He found joy in visiting and being with family and friends.
Ralph was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Gladstone. At one time he served on the Bishop
