Paul R. Shampo, age 90, of Gladstone, passed away on February 24, 2023 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.

Paul was born under the kitchen table during a storm, which happened to be the only place the roof wasn’t leaking, in Ingalls, Michigan, on December 6, 1932. He was the son of Mose and Ida (Adams) Shampo. Paul was raised and was a graduate of Stephenson High School. On March 12, 1955, Paul was united in marriage to the former Shirley Haluska in Nadeau, Michigan. Together they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. He worked on the family farm for many years before continuing for most of his life as a Mason contractor at many places, but most recently owned his own business, Shampo Masonry, for over 40 years in Gladstone.In his younger years, Paul enjoyed hunting, boating, wood working, and bowling. Most recently, he enjoyed crafting birdhouses. But most importantly he loved spending time with his family. Paul was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.

Paul is survived by his daughters, Debbie (Earl) Huntley of Stonington, Star (Steve) Graham of Brampton, Wendy (Paul) Mazanec of New Boston, MI, and Krista (Todd) Schram of Escanaba, grandchildren Jeremy (Jackie) Meyer, Jessie (Rob) Lordson, Angie (Chris) Spencer, Danelle Guerts, Jacob Allsworth, Tony Mazanec, and Morgan (Brandon) Field, great-grandchildren Paige (Breyden) Papineau, Dominic Meyer, Dylan Meyer, Oaklynn Field, Ariel Guerts, Aliya Guerts, Jersie Meyer, Jamison Meyer, Lily Rettig, and Eli Rettig, as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, his parents Mose and Ida, his parents-in-law Evelyn and Stephen Haluska, siblings Adeline (Jim) Shephard, Ella Bohl, Doris (Willard) Corey, Al (Millie) Shampo, and Joe (Evelyn) Shampo, grandchild Casandra Mazanec, great-grandchildren Carson and Jersie Meyer, great-great-grandchild Lively Papineau, as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 3 PM to 5 PM at Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services honoring Paul will follow visitation at 5 PM with Rev. Fr. Jamie Ziminski officiating. A luncheon will follow at All Saints Catholic Church Parish Hall.
