Patty, you were my first friend in this country, you introduced me to a new culture, helped me, and loved me when I knew no one else. You were a source of joy and inspiration, and for that, and for your many kindnesses, I am forever grateful. Be free now and hold my boy’s hand.

The last time I saw Patty she was working her shop downtown Escanaba. I’m going to hold on to that picture. I worked with her a long time ago in Escanaba. I learned so much about sewing and alterations, she was an extremely talented seamstress. I also learned how to play “real” poker from her at our ladies poker nights. Jacks or better, trips to win! So sorry for your loss, she was incredibly talented and a wonderful person to have known,
