Michael F. ‘Jocko’ Jacques, age 70, of Flat Rock passed away February 19, 2024 at his home. 

Mike was born September 29, 1953 in Sleepy Eye, MN, the only son of Fred and Joyce (Roberts) Jacques. He grew up in Washington, Michigan and later moved to the Upper Peninsula where he attended and graduated from Gladstone High School Class of 1972.

Mike followed in his father’s footsteps and was a proud member of the Local 669 Road Sprinkler Fitters. He also loved his time driving semi truck.

He enjoyed country music, gardening and loved to show off his tomatoes. Mike loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to OSF Hospice and Chaplain Brian for the care and comfort provided to Mike and his family.

In addition to his loving wife, Jeanne (Sovey), Mike is survived by:

Daughters: Jennifer Dubord, Kelly (Brian) Seymour and Stacy (Carl) Smith.

Mother: Joyce Jacques

Siblings: Gloria (Greg) Castillo, Linda (Harold) Dickerson, Mary Bellefeuil, Donna (Bruce) Deno, Christina (Dan) Nault, Nicole Beauchamp

Grandchildren: Alex Wells, Chelsea Kossow, Sam Seymour, Anna Smith and Violet Smith

Great Grandchildren: Leah, Lennon, Renny, Kaizen

several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and lifelong friends, Wally Barron and Dick Soper.

Mike is preceded in death by his father, Fred Jacques and sisters, Victoria Lippens and Rebecca Jacques.

At Mike’s request no services will be held.

    To Mike’s family,
    I was so shocked to hear about our cousin Mike so sad. I am so glade we made the trip last summer to see him.Mike was one of a kind. If you never got to meet him you missed out. I loved that laugh he had and that uncle Freddie look he could give. We would visit every summer to see our Michigan cousins. We couldn’t wait to go, it was always a great time seeing Mike. He reminded me of Elvis everyone knew him and loved him.He definitely was the King. We will miss you Mike. Our thoughts and prays go out to the family during this difficult time. God bless everyone!
