Mary Stock

Resided in Gladstone, MI
Died November 21, 2009

Mary Catherine Stock, age 48, of Gladstone passed away on November 21st, 2009, at Marquette General Hospital , due to complications from a brief illness combined with a history of lifelong health care concerns. Mary battled chronic kidney disease her whole life and was blessed with receiving the gift of her third kidney eleven years ago. Our daughter, sister, mother and aunt departed this life surrounded by people she loved and holding their hands. She heard their whispers of love and smiled upon them while she slept. Those of us that could not be there with her said a prayer for her and wished her farewell to a better place with no pain.
Born on December 9th, 1960 in Munising, Michigan, Mary was the beloved daughter of Victor and Betty Stock of Gladstone. She is also survived by her pride and joy, daughter Arianna Stock and by three sisters, Cindy (Terry) Cartwright, Paula (Bert) Jonsson, Julie (Don) Chouinard, and by two brothers, Vic Jr. (Cindy) Stock and Steve (Leigh) Stock.

She was especially close to all her nieces and nephews including, Travis, Brook, Dustin and Jolee Hughes, Nathan, Todd, and Becca Cartwright, Christy and Sam Chouinard, and Jesse, Cassie and Reggie Stock, and Matthew and Casey Stock in addition to a great-niece and a great-nephew.

Mary was a very special aunt and confidant to her nieces and nephews and managed to hear all of the family news before anyone, even though she was deaf! Mary had a true zest for life, which was apparent in her love of being surrounded by people, especially her family. She had and extraordinary gift for always being able to smile to everyone

    Stock Family,

Mary was such an awesome person. I have fond memories of her from having her as a student in my American Sign Language class years ago. I will never forget the story of her when she was in Madison for one of her many doctor appointments and she had to fast for her tests. As she was on the X-ray table, she continued to sign to her sister (can’t remember which one) that she was very hungry. Well the sign that she was using really meant something else which made the X-ray technician crack up!! Arianna was her pride and joy. Everytime she talked about Ari, you could see the sparkle in her eyes. Hold on to the memories because there sure are a lot of them.

I have so many memories of Mary that I cant begin to think of just one. From dancing with her at the sherman lounge to her standing up in my wedding, Mary was a true best friend that I always looked up to through all her struggles. She was always strong through every endurance and I will always remember her for that and what a great person she was. We shared many laughs and I will miss her! My thoughts are with her and all her family, lets all remember her each and every day. Peace out Mary.

Some of my best memories are of Mary, Margie, and I cruising in my parents blue Buick with Skyhooks on the 8-track. One third of the MKM girls is gone and we will truly miss her. Mary was an outstanding woman who courageously dealt with all life gave her. All my sympathy and prayers go out to the family at this time.

I am so sorry for your loss. I just found out about Mary’s passing through the Daily Press website. What a beautiful obituary you’ve memorialized her with! It brought tears to my eyes.

I really didn’t know Mary well, but I will always remember spending those evenings with her and much of her family in Julie Hardwick’s ASL classes at the Gladstone Middle School. Mary would crack us all up, and she was just so endearing. I could see her love for you all, and your love for her, in the simple interactions I witnessed in those classes. The ASL classes have had a huge impact on my life, and Mary will forever be a part of the memories I have from them.

Though I wish I could say something more to comfort you in this hard time, I know I don’t have the words. Know you’re in my thoughts and prayers tonight.

Mary was such a special person. We used to hang around together and always had lots of fun. She went through a lot in her young lifetime but you never heard her complain. When ever we would see each other we would hug and talk about old times. Her greatest love was having her daughter. She was so very proud of that accomplishment in her life. May God be with all of you. May you take comfort in knowing she is with our Lord now.
