Mary Ann Parrett, age 72, of Rapid River passed away Thursday, April 25, 2024 at the UP Health System in Marquette.

Mary was born March 2, 1952 in Escanaba. She was raised in Rapid River and graduated from Rapid River High School in 1970. She married her love, John Parrett on August 1, 1970. Mary was member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid River where she served as the secretary for 25 years and enjoyed helping out whenever she could. She was well known and famous for her camp cookies, pasties, apple pies and coffee cakes. Her favorite hobbies included sewing, knitting, reading and watching true crime. She also enjoyed traveling with her sisters and relaxing in the sun but above all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

For Mary, her family was her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Helen (Wickstrom) Lagerquist. Her memory lives on through her loving husband, John; her children, Eric (Janice) Parrett, Stacy Parrett (Len), Chad (Michelle) Parrett; her grandchildren, Rachael, Renae, Raegan, Lee, Ella, Grayson, Gavin and her sisters, Judy LaCasse and Dell Jean Kadletz.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 2 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will begin at 3:00 PM. Mary will be laid to rest in the Rapid River Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Calvary Lutheran Church.

    I was shocked and saddened to read of Mary Ann’s passing. She was such a ray of sunshine. My condolences go out to you and your family. May God comfort you and give you peace during this time.

    We are so sorry for your loss. God gained another Angel. Heaven is supposed to be a wonderful place. We will all meet again, prayers for the whole family.

    Such a shock to hear of Mary Ann’s passing. She was such a lovely woman who gave so much of herself to family and friends! Prayers for the family to get through this tough time. Heaven has another angel!

    My deepest sympathies to the family of Mary Ann. Remembering visiting her at her sister Judy’s home, such a sweetheart .
