Mary Horvath, age 88, passed away Saturday morning, August 22, 2020, at her home in Rapid River, with her family by her side.

Mary was born November 21, 1931, in Oakmont, PA, the daughter of John and Josephine (Greco) Sciarrino. She was raised and attended school in Pennsylvania.

On December 15, 1973, Mary was united in marriage to Ray Horvath, in Allen Park, MI, and together the couple relocated to Rapid River where they enjoyed many wonderful years together. Mary’s grandchildren fondly referred to her as “Cookie Grandma”. She would often invite children from her church to her home and teach them how to bake.

In addition to her loving husband Ray, Mary is survived by:
Son: John O’Bryan
Daughters: Linda (Rob) Euclide, Raylene Harris and Lisa (Arnie) Harris
Brother: Joe Sciarrino
Mary is further survived by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Josephine:
Daughters: Dianne Mack and Candi Owens
Sisters: Geri Meli, Josephine Fisher and Rose Povlick

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 4:00PM to 6:00PM, at Wellspring Community Church in Escanaba. Funeral services will follow visiting hours, at 6:00PM, at the Wellspring Community Church, with Pastor Paul Culbertson officiating. Upon special request of the church, masks are required and social distancing is appreciated. Mary will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells. Mary’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Northwood’s Hospice for their exceptional care. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting with arrangements.

    I’m so sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. I always enjoyed her company. We had a lot of laughs. I haven’t seen her in many years, but happy to see them at my home in Florida a few years ago. Rest In Peace Mary! My thoughts are with you Ray & family.

    Dearest Uncle Ray and family, may God bless and comfort you all in this time of sadness.My Aunt Mary was very close to my mother and I had the pleasure of seeing her a lot when she visited Pennsylvania to see her parents and siblings.She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a very cool Aunt! I will never forget her and her wonderful children as well. I will miss her greatly.
