Mark D. Landis, age 63, of Escanaba, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.

Mark was born February 12, 1957, in Manistique, MI, to the late Jacob Jr. and Audrey (Watchorn) Landis. He grew up in Isabella in the family home his father built. He graduated from Big Bay De Noc High School and was a part of the class of 1975. Following high school, he went right to work as a laborer. He worked for the Labor Union #1329 for 35 years.

Mark was an avid Detroit Lions fan and also was a fan of the Detroit Pistons Basketball team. He loved to spend time with his family, and loved to travel and go on U.P. fall color tours. He was a part of pool and dart leagues, but especially loved playing pool. Mark also liked going to the theatre, crossword puzzles, and Jumbos. He will be deeply missed by so many.

Mark is survived by his loving fiancé Cheri Lake, brothers Steven (Jacky) Landis of Wheatfield, IN, and Daren (Lorie) Landis of Rapid River, MI, sisters Sherry (John) Legault of Engadine, MI, and twin sister Melodie (Darrel) Asplund of Cunard, MI, special grandson Brandon Lake, numerous close cousins, uncle Bernard (Roy) Landis of Cook, MI, extended family members Brian (Becky) Lake of Escanaba and Daniel Lake of Ford River, MI, and nieces and nephews; Janell (Brian) Larson of Negaunee, MI, Jennifer (James) Huetter of Negaunee, MI, Nathan (Stephanie Lauscher) Asplund of Hermansville, MI, Jared (Teaha Felter) Asplund of Powers, MI, Stephanie Landis of Lafayette, IN, Christopher Landis of Valparaiso, IN, Daren Landis Jr. of Rapid River, MI, and Brooke Landis of Rapid River, MI, and several great nieces and nephews.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents, and his grandparents on both sides.

A private graveside service honoring Mark will be held at a later date in the Isabella Moss Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the family. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Landis family.

    So sorry for your loss. I didn’t know Mark well but do know that he was a loving and devoted son to my dear friend Audrey. I am thankful for people like Mark.
