Margaret Sharon Stevenson, 74, of Perkins, passed away January 20, 2013 peacefully with her family by her side, following a battle with lung cancer.

Margaret was born June 6 1938 in Escanaba, the daughter of Clarence and Mary Elizabeth (McCormick) Tardiff. She was raised in Gladstone and graduated from the Gladstone High School in 1956. She worked at J.C. Penny of Gladstone in her early years. She married Donald Stevenson of Perkins in 1959 at All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone. The couple made their residence in the Perkins area where they raised their six children.

Margaret was employed by the Perkins School, which later became the Mid Peninsula School District, for twenty five years. She retired as head cook in June of 2003.

She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She looked forward to meeting with her brothers, sisters and in-laws for their ritual Sunday breakfasts. Margaret was always willing to volunteer at fundraising events at her church, for the American Legion and Lions Club of Perkins or helping out at the Baldwin Twp. Hall assisting her husband with his supervising and assessing duties.

She loved being with her children, grandchildren and siblings, as family was very precious to Margaret.
Margaret was a member of the Saint Joseph Catholic Church of Perkins. She was a member of the Perkins American Legion Post 540 Women’s Auxiliary.

She is survived by children: Robert (Kathleen) Stevenson of Farmington Hills, MI; Gregory (Michelle ) Stevenson of Perkins; Patricia (Lee) Young of Green Bay, WI; Debra (James) Miller of Waupaca, WI; David (Laura) Stevenson of Appleton, WI; and Rebecca (Thomas) Fix of Rhinelander, WI.

She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, Jessica and Ryan Stevenson, Farmington Hills, Jennifer and Andy Stevenson Perkins, Stewart, Benjamin and Elle Miller of Waupaca, Remington, Jared, Isabella and Grace Stevenson of Appleton, Lucas and Madeline Fix of Rhinelander; and one brother, Robert (Maureen) Tardiff of Gladstone; three sisters: Audrey Grenier of Escanaba, Mary Ellen (Charles) Alanko , Barbara (Fred ) Pfiester; sisters in-law: Joanne Tardiff, Evora Schaefer, and Joan Stevenson all of Gladstone and Elizabeth Knutson of Milwaukee, WI, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald (Donnie), her parents, brothers: Raymond, Richard, Donald and John Tardiff; three sisters: Elaine Phalen, Beverly Maki and Kathleen Neadow.

The Stevenson family will receive friends on Friday, January 25 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 6:00 PM at the St. Joseph Church in Perkins with Rev. Fr. Jacek Wytklo and Rev. Fr. Emmett Norden officiating. Luncheon will be served in the church fellowship hall following the services.
Margaret will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Baldwin Twp Cemetery in Perkins.
We wish to thank OSF and Marquette General Home Health care and especially the nurses and doctors at OSF during her final days. And special thanks to her special friend Honey Vandecaveye.

    We were saddened to hear of Margaret’s passing. She has been just down the road from our farm for so long. I always enjoyed visiting with Margaret when I had the chance. She and Donnie were great members of the community. Please accept our sympathy.

    My condolences to the Stevenson family. I worked with Margaret for four years and we had many early morning visits as I could count on homemade cinnamon rolls or cinnamon toast to start my day. She was a great lady and will be missed.

    I first met Margaret about ten years ago.We had many good times together along with Honey. We went to Mackinac Island, movies and out for dinners. She fought her cancer with a quiet dignity as became a lovely lady. I will miss her. Ann Marie Asciutto
