Lynne E. Smith

Lynne E. Smith, age 76, of Gladstone, passed away on Monday Sept. 16th, 2019 at the Christian Park Healthcare Village.

Lynne was born on February 26, 1943, in Flint, MI, the son of Raymond Lefler and Mary Graham. He was raised in Otisville, MI and graduated from high school there. He went to work for the Millwright Local 1102 and traveled to many places across the United States. He went on to meet Cindy Otis-Smith in Escanaba and they were married. Later, Lynne retired from being a millwright in 2002.

Lynne was known for being a great guy, and he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He was also known for being a great story teller. He was a lover of golfing, fishing, and animals, including horses. He also was a big sports fan and rooted for the Detroit Tigers baseball team and the Green Bay Packers football team.

Lynne is survived by:
Daughters: Erin (Justin) Smith of Escanaba, MI, Roxanne Lewis of Columbus, GA, and Lena Reimer.
Sons: James Smith of Eatonton, GA.
Brothers: Jim (Lisa) Hixenbaugh of Flint, MI, John (Judy) Hixenbaugh of Harrison, MI, Chuck Smith of Otisville, MI, and Butch Smith of Otisville, MI.
Sisters: Sandy (Wes) Caswell from Glennville, GA.
Sister In Law: Linda (Tom) Lefler.
Along with many nieces and nephews, as well as his special niece and caretaker, Tammi (Keith) Alden of Gladstone, MI.

Lynne is preceded in death by his wife, Cindy Otis-Smith, his parents, Mary Graham Raymond Lefler, his adoptive parents, Charles and Lois Smith, his sister Sharon Hixenbaugh, and his brother Tom Lefler.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County will be assisting the Smith family.
