Lucille ‘Lucy’ Jolly

Resided in Escanaba, MI
Died May 15, 2022

Lucille “Lucy” Jolly, age 65, of Escanaba, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Christian Park Village in Escanaba, with her children, whom she loved more than anything, at her side.

Lucy was born at home on February 27, 1957 in Escanaba. The daughter of Antone and Elzaddie (Belongie) Lanaville. She graduated from the Gladstone High School in 1977. She was united in marriage to David John Jolly on August 14, 1999 in Gladstone.

Lucy was an amazing cook, and worked several places, but The Dew Drop Inn in Gladstone was her favorite. She also worked for Besse Forest Products the last 14 years running veneer, and cooking for the union picnics. She helped out the Brampton Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary by running around getting donations for their fundraisers each year, and cooking for the New Year’s Eve party. She attended New Life Assembly of God Church in Escanaba, where she was baptized a couple years ago, and stated she felt an indescribable warm light inside her. Lucy was known to be the life of the party, always smiling and making people laugh. She loved Christmas more than anything and was always counting down the days. She loved life, and wanted everyone to be happy. She enjoyed working her crafts, especially quilting-if you ever got a quilt from her, you know it was made with her heart in every stitch. She loved playing bingo and going to the casino, and would ask anyone to go with her.

Lucy is survived by her children, Cathy (Dennis) Bitters, Cindy (Jim) Gendron, and David (Jackie) Dahn; seven grandchildren; siblings, Alfred (Pam) Lanaville, Betty (Howard) Willyard, Ruth Metor, and Peggy (Dave) Phillips, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David, her parents, brother Paul Lanaville, and sister Joanne Lanaville.

Visitation and services will be on Saturday, May 21st at The Dew Drop in Gladstone. Visitation will begin at 1:00, with services at 2:00, and a reception to follow. Because she loved Christmas so much her service will be Christmas themed and her one request is that no one wear black.

The family is being assisted by the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone.

Lucy’s warmth was always on display whenever we saw her. We attended Lucy and David’s wedding in 1999 by the Kid’s Kingdom Pavilion. What a joyous occasion. David was one lucky guy, and they were made for each other.

Lucy was an awesome women. I was still in high school and was hired at the Dew Drop as a dishwasher when I first met her. She taught me just about everything I know now about the restaurant business, and I spent over 20 years using that knowledge as a chef/cook, because of her. Being young and having an impressionable mind, at the time of meeting her, she also taught me a lot about life, and I will not mention if that was good or bad. LOL She will be missed, but is now awaiting the rest of us in heaven. Save me a spot in the kitchen up there Lucy, I would be honored to cook by your side one more time! Will Miss You!

It was an honor and a privilege to take care of you. You will hold a special place in my heart. Rest In Peace beautiful lady! My condolences to Lucy’s family. May God bless you all. My thoughts and prayers are with you!

Eternal Rest Grant upon her soul, and let perpetual light shine upon her.
I had the pleasure of knowing Lucy, for a short period of time, while she lived at West Highland.
Lucy was a “sweetheart” that’s for sure, she left a void on second floor.
    Rest in peace.

I enjoyed taking care of you. Rest now lovely lady and fly high with the angels. Your smile is missed.

Oh Lucy… you have left such a huge hole in many hearts. Your smile was contagious, your hugs so special and your love for Christmas was amazing. You could always make me smile!! I feel very privileged to have been able to call you my friend!!
I keep the quilt you made for us on my recliner and sometimes Tim and I fight over who gets to use it!! Fly high my friend and we’ll see you again!!
    Love you

    Hello Lucy,
Leave it to you to be the first among us to lead the way. We all sure had alot of fun together, eh?!
We were in high school at Escanaba when you came into the Dahn family. We got along right away. Singing, and Art is what we had in common, besides just laughing, being silly, and having fun.
Your Mom worked at the House of Ludington then. One evening after visiting your Mom while she was working. We were outside in the middle of Summer singing Christmas songs. Unbeknownst to us we had an audiance of one from the second floor above us. She enjoyed listening to us, and encouraged us to sing more. That is my favorite memory of us. Course there are many other memories too, but… this is already too long… Ha! Congratulations on your Baptism. It warmed my heart to read this.
    Luvya Lucy (((hugz))),
