LaVergne Hansen, 84, formerly of the West Highland Apartment Facility, died early Friday morning January 25, 2008, at the Christian Park Village where she has resided for the past two years.
LaVergne was born November 19, 1923, in Gladstone, the daughter of Leo and Jenny (Garvey) Gravelle. She was raised in Gladstone and attended the Gladstone school system. In 1939, at the age of sixteen, LaVergne was united in marriage to Francis Hansen, and together the couple made their home and began their family in Escanaba. Throughout her life, LaVergne worked primarily as a homemaker raising her family and keeping the family home. Francis preceded LaVergne in death on December 26, 1973. LaVergne was a member of the St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church. In addition, she belonged to the Escanaba D.A.V. Auxiliary and was a longtime member of the Escanaba Eagles Auxiliary. Her hobbies included embroidering and spending time with her loving family and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

5 Sons: Richard (Kathy) Hansen of Escanaba, MI; James (Pam) Hansen of Shawano, WI; Raymond (Betsy) Hansen of Escanaba, MI; Francis (Nancy) Hansen of Gladstone, MI; Donald (Susan) Hansen of Bark River, MI

1 Daughter: Marilyn (Phillip) Sarasin of Escanaba, MI

1 Brother: Merrill (Joanne) Gravelle of Escanaba, MI

Also listed among the surviving family are 27 grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
