Perkins, MI
John Leonard Nelson, age 77, of Perkins, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday evening, August 2, 2014, surrounded by his loving family, following a short illness.
John was born November 18, 1936, in Gross, MI, the son of Oscar and Lily (Ahlquist) Nelson. He was raised in Gross and attended elementary school, in Wells, before moving to Perkins where he attended the Perkins school. On December 27, 1958, John was united in marriage to the former Jane Branstrom at St. Joseph Church in Perkins. Together John and Jane relocated to Milwaukee, where they made their home, began their family and resided for six years. They then moved to Coldwater, MI where they resided for two years before moving back to Perkins. John belonged to Operating Engineers Local Union #324 for the majority of his working career. He retired in 1996 with more than thirty years of employment. John was a member of the Perkins Lions Club. He enjoyed spending time at his camp, riding his four wheelers and six wheelers and cheering for the Detroit Red Wings, Tigers and Lions.
John is survived by his loving wife Jane:

Daughter: Laurie LeBlanc of St. Nicholas, MI
Brothers: Dennis and Raymond (Pat) Nelson both of Rock, MI
Sister: Eileen Demeuse of Gladstone, MI
Grandchildren: Mandi (Shayne), Kyle (Sara), Paul, Ian, Kristi, Kaitlyn, and
Stephen (Stephanie)
Great Grandchildren: Lily, Drake, Violet, Damon, Trigg, Marley and Ethan
Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins and John
