John S. Alm, age 72, of 57 Sandy Lane, Gladstone, MI, passed away Friday morning March 23, 2012 at the Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba following a heart wrenching battle with Alzheimer
We made lots of good memories with John and Ellie. Playing cards, drinking wine, sailing on the Windjammers were good times. We are blessed that John touched our lives. Ellie we love you.
I will miss seeing John at our Class Reunions. I remember when we built a float at my house when we were Freshmen in school. John was already then a tall handsome boy. He will be missed. All my Sympathy to his Family.

We were very sad to hear about John’s passing; especially since we are in Florida and can’t be there to celebrate his life. I’ve know John since junior high school, and we had many fond memories. He was a true “50”s guy!! John helped out with planning the class reunions along with Harold Wallin since we started five years after graduation. All of us, especially the class of “58” are going to miss him. He was a great person, classmate and friend.

Ellie we are so sorry for your loss, John will be greatly missed. It never seems like we have enough time to enjoy our friends and neighbors but the short time that we knew John he was special man. He always was around to help out on projects especially if we were building something, he was quite a craftsman. Our kids remember John showing them how to fold a dollar bill into a bow tie. Rest in Peace my friend.

I worked with John and worked out with John at the Y. I especially like his work ethic, always making sure people picked up after themselves. Always on top of things. A quite humble man. Not to aggressive at the Y (a good thing) Always had time to talk.. RIP John….

I worked with John at Mead. Always such a gentleman. He was a good man. So sad he had to live the end of his life with Alzheimer’s and cancer. Ellie, I hope you find peace as I did when I lost my husband. God bless you.

“J-Boy” was one of my best friends in high school. I’ll always remember many of the good times we had, one in particular was the time we took the “Blue Goose” (40 Plymouth) to Gladstone after having attended Christmas eve service at church. The roads were very slippery and I was driving a little to fast when I hit a no-passing sign and started spinning the “Goose” around in circles. John was yelling that the door had flown off and was holding on to the seat for dear life. After the car came to a stop, we both looked at one another and began hysterically laughing. We got out and pulled the crushed fender off the tire and resumed on our merry way, we ended up getting to our destination and had a great time. Just one of many good times I had with Johnny. John was a wonderful man and excellent husband to my aunt Ellie. I have two of his word-working pieces -a beautiful quilt rack and t.p. holder. He will be missed by many. RIP, John.

What a nice kindhearted person. My family and I have enjoyed being John and Ellie’s neighbor for almost 11 years. John helped me with so many projects over the years and I never had to ask…He was always there to help me, my kids or anyone that needed anything. I loved his stories around the campfires especially his stories about the Navy. John will truly be missed and we are so blessed to have met such a beautiful person. our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I am so sorry & saddened by your loss of John, Ellie. I will always remember how he welcomed me & my friend when we visited you several yrs ago, and how gentle & understanding he was when we gals would sit, chat & share old memories, etc. And when you two came to Hamilton to visit me, again he understood & cared how important it was for you & I to reminisce….his endless patience!
Blessings & love to you, dear friend.
