Joan C. Larson

Early November 4, 2023, Joan C Larson, of Gladstone, shed her earthly bonds and slipped gently into the night to join her loving husband Jim Larson in the great beyond.

Joan, the daughter of Albin and Agnes (Norman) Froberg was born March 10,1937, in

Escanaba. She graduated from Escanaba Senior High School in 1955. After graduation, Joan

worked at Stephenson Lumber Company. Joan loved to buy fine clothes and shoes, dressing

to the nines to dance to the music of Louis Armstrong and other big bands. Her favorite

compliment was, “Wow, that Amazon can dance!” In 1960, Joan married the love of her life, Jim

Larson. A son (Bob) and daughter (Linda) arrived in 1961 and 1962. Joan returned to part-time

work at the Phoenix Lumber Company and then worked for over thirty years as bookkeeper and

clerk at the Sviland Paint Store.

Family was always Joan’s focus and many a child unrelated to her was proud to call her “Mom”

or “Gram” over the years. She was a kind and gentle soul who was and is deeply loved. She is

survived by her sister, Jan Mills, son Bob (Angie) Larson, daughter Linda (Ted) Mathieson;

grandsons Matt (Bonnie), Jake (Katie), Bob, and Ian (Erika) Larson; sister-in-law Helen (Gary)

Micheau and many nieces and nephews.

Thank you to the staff of Dickinson Oncology (especially Dr. Morel and Jim) for giving her

hope and providing treatment and care. Thank you also for the OSF Home Health Staff, Dr.

Carroll, and OSF Home Hospice for helping the family bring her home as she wished.

The family wishes to invite Joan’s friends and family to join in a celebration of her life on

December 9, 2023, 3-6 p.m. at her home at 6874 Days River 24.5 Road; Gladstone.

The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Larson family.
