Jesse “Jim” Flippin, age 95, of Escanaba passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba.

Jim was born July 20, 1924 in Electra, Texas, the son of Willie and Jewell (Wright) Flippin. He graduated from Electra High School. Jim served his country proudly in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He was united in marriage to Erla Johnston on December 16, 1950. They were married for over 68 years. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Escanaba and liked to fish, hunt and golf.

Jim is survived by his wife, Erla; his children Billy “Wayne” (Sally) Flippin of Escanaba, Sue (Tom) Strahan of Crystal Falls, Diana (Bruce) Holm of Gladstone; grandchildren, Kerri (Pete) Ammel and their daughter, Daisy of Escanaba, Todd (Diana) Flippin and children, Grace, Bella, Oliver and Lydia of Findley, OH, Sarah (Dan) Seder and daughter, Sophia of Escanaba, Scott (Megan) Strahan and children, Oakleigh and Colt of Berlin, WI, Jon (Joslyn) Flippin of Wilson and Sean Holm of Gladstone and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Cecil and Bobby.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 28 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Central United Methodist Church in Escanaba. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM with Rev. Elise Low Edwardson officiating. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall. Jim will be laid to rest in the Lakeview Cemetery in Escanaba.

The family is being assisted by the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba.
