Jeanette Constance Eleanor Klit, age 82, of Gladstone, passed away at home on Sunday, February 12, 2023.

 

Jeanette was born February 21, 1940 in Marquette, Michigan, the daughter of Francis and Rhea (Malbouef) Mathews. She graduated from Bishop Baraga High School in 1957. She was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” Klit on June 22, 1979.

 

Jeanette resided in Marquette all her life until 1992 when she moved to Gladstone. Throughout her life she was employed as an administrative assistant for the Marquette-Alger Intermediate School District and as a secretary for the Industrial Piping Company. She was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church and volunteered for Hospice and Friends of the Library.

In addition to her loving husband, Jeanette is survived by her children, Colleen Grant of Green Bay, WI, Brian Baggett of Waukesha, WI, Sandra Kirchenberg of Waukesha, WI and  Suzette (Long) Nguyen of Green Bay, WI; step daughter, Mary Lynn (Robert) Wales of Marquette, MI; eight grandchildren, Christine Collier, Amber Heaton, Nicholas Kapusta, Justin Kapusta, Ashley Kirchenberg, Gabrielle Nguyen, Jordan Kirchenberg and Brooke Nguyen, four great grandchildren; her sister, Catherine Mathews of Marquette; former husband, Ron (Sharon) Baggett of Marquette and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Ann Marie Heitman and Betty (Arthur) Hill and brothers, Bob (Estelle) and Bill Mathews.

Mass of Christian Burial for Jeanette is scheduled for Monday, March 13 at 11:00 AM at the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone with Fr. Jamie Ziminski officiating. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall. Jeanette will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery in Marquette.

The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Klit family.

    So sorry for your loss. Jeannette was always such a joy. I did her hair for years but what I will miss most is her laugh and joy for life. She always had something great to share. May God’s peace and live be with you all.
