Janice F. Hanson, age 79, of Rapid River (Ensign), died Tuesday evening March 4, 2008 at the Oak Hill Hospital in Spring Hill, Florida.
Janice was born January 17, 1929, in Wilton, WI, the daughter of Bernard and Vica Lyden. Janice married her husband, Bill Hanson Sr. on December 22, 1962. The couple celebrated their anniversary this past December totaling 45 years of marriage and 48 years together as a couple. Throughout her life, Janice enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and spending the winter months in Florida with her husband and her many friends. She will be deeply missed

In addition to her husband Bill, Janice is survived by:

1 Brother: Paul (Kate) Lyden of Tomah, WI

1 Daughter: Sheila (Allen) Klever of Richfield, WI

2 Sons: Gary (Lyn) Shaw of Butler, WI, William (Patti) Hanson Jr. of Waukesha, WI

2 Step Daughters: Susan Anderson of Manistique, MI, Linda (Bob) Harrison of Manistique, MI

Also listed among the surviving family are 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter and several loving nieces and nephews.

Her parents, Bernard and Vica, 2 brothers, Maurice and James Lyden and 1 sister, Phyllis Thurow, preceded Janice in death.

The Hanson family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00AM to 2:00PM, at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Janice F. Hanson will follow visitation, at 2:00PM, at the Skradski Funeral Home, with Rev. Fr. Jacek Wtyklo and Pastor William Rafuse officiating. Luncheon will follow at the Rapid River Congregational Church. Committal will take place in the spring at the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone. TheSkradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Hanson family with arrangements.

    So sorry to hear about Janice. May God comfort her family through this. I have always liked Janice and she sure could cook some fish. I used to stop and see her and Bill when they lived in Milwaukee years ago. She will be missed.
