Jacqueline Marie Rappette, 87 of Gladstone, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, February 3, 2011 at the Elder Care Facility in Rapid River.
Jacqueline was born on June 5, 1923 in Escanaba, MI, the daughter of Emma (Bernard) and Edward Bawden. Jacqueline graduated from Escanaba Senior High School in 1942. On February 8, 1947, Jacqueline was united in marriage to Vincent Rappette at St Joseph Catholic Church in Escanaba. Together Jacqueline and Vincent lived on the family farm in Flat Rock and raised their family until moving to Gladstone in 1997. Jacqueline worked as a homemaker throughout her life enjoying cooking, family parties and crocheting her special afghans for friends and family. Jacqueline was involved with Holy Family Church teaching CCD, Alter Society, Daughters of Isabella, Senior Citizens and Farm Bureau Hiawatha land. Jacqueline loved to spend time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. “Gram” was very appreciative of the care that was provided by her grandchildren.

Among her survivors include her two daughters; Sandy Martin of Lexington, Kentucky, Judy(Rick) Jensen of Gladstone, two sons; Mark (Ann) Rappette of Green Bay and John(Sally) Rappette of Cornell; grandchildren; Justin (Brandi) Martin, Jason (Jennifer) Martin, Jessica (Erik) Couch; Chris, Carrie, Kyle, Kollin, and Callie Jensen, Ashley Rappette, Kayla(Dan) Verbeek, Melissa and John Rappette; great-grandchildren; Morgan and Jacob Couch, Verkiah Martin and Emma Verbeek. Also listed among the surviving family are many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jacqueline was preceded in death by her husband Vincent; parents Emma and Edward; sisters; Mildred and Ethel Henry, granddaughters; Joni and Jenny Martin.

Jacqueline’s family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Skadski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of Christian Burial will follow visiting hours on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Gilbert

Neurohr officiating. Luncheon will follow in the Holy Family Parish Hall. Jacqueline will be laid to rest at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Delta County Cancer Alliance, Community Action Senior Companion program and Gladstone Public Library. Envelopes will be available at the Skradski Funeral Home throughout visitation.
