Irwin F. Bostwick, age 77, of Gladstone passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at the Lakeview Assisted Living-Memory Care in Gladstone.

Irwin was born August 10, 1943 in Clarksville, Tennessee, the son of Irwin and Fannie (Green) Bostwick. He graduated from Bedford High School in Temperance, Michigan in 1961. He continued his education at the University of Toledo, graduating in 1966 with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. He was united in marriage to Monica Hale on November 28, 1970.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and active in the Men’s Group. Irwin began his working career with the Chrysler Corporation in Detroit, then at Textileather Division of General Tire and Rubber in Toledo and finally for the Mead Paper Corporation, where he spent 26 years until his retirement on December 31, 2002 He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and active with the Men’s Group, was a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and active with Troop 466 of the Boy Scouts of America. He also loved to spend time with his family, remodeling the cabin in Big Bay, traveling, woodworking, metal working and working on cars.

Irwin is survived by his wife, Monica; sons, Aric (Melissa) Bostwick and Jay Bostwick; grandson, Takoda Bostwick, and brother, Wayne Bostwick.

He was preceded in death by his parents and the mother who raised him, Helen Bostwick.

Memorial services will be on Saturday, September 12 at 12:00 PM at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone with Pastor Dennis Meyette officiating.

Masks will be required upon entering the First Lutheran Church.

The Bostwick family would like to extend a special thank you to the great staff at the Lakeview Assisted Living-Memory Care Center, UP Health System-Home and Hospice, Dr. Vernette Carlson, Dr. Steve Smith. Dr. Liz Pepin, Dr. Steve Dosh and the Alzheimer’s Support Group led by Kristie Stenlund.

Memorial contributions in Irwin’s name may be directed to the First Lutheran Church, Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Michigan or the University of Toledo Foundation-Engineering Department, 4510 Dorr St., MS#820, Toledo, OH 43615-4040,

The Bostwick family is being assisted by the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone.

    Mark and I were riding around Gladstone the other day and we started talking about Irwin and wondering how he was doing. I’m so sorry for your loss. He was such a nice, personable man. I always enjoyed seeing you two at the Medicare Annual Election period. You both always brought smiles and positivity into my office. Made for a good day. Mark and I send our condolences and hugs (even if it’s against covid19 rules). May all your happy memories of Irwin help you through any sad moments.

    Monica Aric Jay I am sorry for your loss. I remember visiting Monica and Irwin at family celebrations. Irwin always was so friendly and I remember his smile.     So sorry for your loss.We had many good times with the Irwin and family during our sons Boy Scout years.He set such a good example for the scouts.. He had such a positive outlook .We will always remember his smile and his friendship.

    Irv and I spent many years working together in the engineering department at Mead Paper and as consultants. We always had a great working relationship. Irv was a very bright man and one of the finest engineers I have ever known. It was a true pleasure and he will always be in my thoughts and prayers. Monica, Aric, and Jay we are very sorry for your loss. Rest in peace my friend.

    I’m so sorry to read of your loss. Irv always had a smile on his face when we worked at the mill, and that continued into his stay at Lakeview. I would introduce myself and tell him we worked together at the mill, and he would give me that smile! May you find peace in his memories in the coming days.

    I am so very sorry for your loss. I enjoyed getting to know Irv during Ray’s time with him at Lakeview. Your dedication to Irv was very evident, and I’m sure it was a blessing to him. I hope your many good memories will help to get you through this difficult time.
