Ida M. Opolka, age 87, of Escanaba, passed away Thursday morning, November 25, 2010, at the St. Francis Hospital.
Ida was born, August 16, 1923, in Escanaba, the daughter of Michael and Julia (Kuhar) Waterspank. She was raised in Escanaba and was a 1941 graduate of the St. Joseph School. On February 23, 1946, Ida was united in marriage to the late Leyon W. Opolka at the St. Joseph Church in Escanaba. Together Leyon and Ida made their home, began their family and resided most of their lives in Escanaba. Leyon preceded Ida in death on December 30, 1997. Over the course of her life, Ida was employed by Northern Motor Company for 39 years, of which, the last 21 years of her employment was spent as the Corporate Secretary-Treasurer, Office Manager and Accountant, of Northern Motors, a position she took great pride in. She retired from Northern Motors in 1984. Ida enjoyed traveling with her husband. The couple enjoyed going on 3 separate cruise and many trips to Las Vegas over the years. In addition, Ida and Leyon spent 10 winters in Destin, FL and 3 winters in Las Vegas. Ida
