Helen M. Malnar, age 89, of 110 South 5th Street Escanaba died on Monday August 2,2004 at St. Clair Hospital in Lakewood, Washington while vacationing with her daughter Dolly.
She was born April 17,1915 in Beniot, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Mary (Petek) Sickich and was married to Matthew Malnar on January 10,1940. He preceded her in death on February 29,1988. She was raised and worked on a farm most of her life. For over 20 years she taught sunday school at the Grace Baptist Church in Gladstone and since 1989 had belonged to the Calvary Baptist Church in Escanaba.

Helen enjoyed cooking, gardening,crocheting, knitting, traveling with her children, WALKING, and spending time with her family.

She leaves to survive her:

2 sons: Raymond (Suk) Malnar of Tacoma, Washington, Ivan (Jodi) Malnar of Rapid River, MI
Son-in-law: Leonard Clemons of Des Plaines, Illinois
2 daughters: Delores “Dolly” (Mike) Ettenhofer of Ann Arbor, MI,Judith (Len) Peterson of Escanaba
Daughter-in-law: Laurel Malnar of Fort Wayne, Indiana
13 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren many Nieces and Nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 48 years Matthew;
1 son: Matthew Jr.
1 daughter: Angeline Clemons
1 granddaughter: Cheryl Lynn Ettenhofer
2 sisters: Mary and Anne Sickich
2 brothers and their spouses: John and Anna Sickich and Jack and Vicky Green.

Friends may call at the Skradski Funeral Home in Escanaba on Friday from 3:00 to 5:15 PM.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Helen Malnar will be held Friday at 6:00 PM at the Calvery Baptist Church in Escanaba with Pastor Pat Radue officiating. A lunch will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall. Burial will be in the Rapid River Cemetery on Saturday at 10:00 AM.

    My family and I extend our deepest sympathies to the Malnar family. Mrs. Malnar was always cheerful and hospitable when we kids (at the time) would visit her and Matt’s home. She was a very sweet spirit. We’ll keep you in our prayers.
