Helen E. Huff, age 85, of Gladstone and currently residing at Christian Park Health Care Facility, in Escanaba, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 23, 2014, at Marquette General Hospital.

Helen was born June 10, 1929, in Munising, MI, the daughter of Eino and Eini Maki. She was raised in Munising and attended the Munising schools. Helen was united in marriage to Martin Schmidt and together the couple made their home and raised their family in Gladstone. Martin preceded Helen in death. She later went on to marry Joseph Huff and together the couple remained in Gladstone. Joseph also preceded Helen in death. In addition to raising her family, Helen was employed at Eaton Corporation, in Gladstone. She was a longtime member of the First Lutheran Church, Gladstone Yacht Club and Gladstone American Legion Post #71. Helen liked to go bowling and enjoyed cooking and playing cards.

Sons: Douglas (Dawn) Schmidt of Rapid River, MI
Bruce Schmidt of Green Bay, WI
Brother: Leo (Bea) Maki of Michigan
Grandsons: David Schmidt of Marquette, MI
Jeff (Kristie) Latsch of Ford River, MI
Great Grandchildren: Spencer, Carson and Jeffrey
Lifelong Friend: Carol Wolfe of Gladstone, MI
Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Daughter: Carol Schmidt
Sons: Donald and Allen Schmidt
Granddaughter: Dana Latsch
Sisters: Lila and Viola Maki
Brothers: Lenhart, Arnold and Wayne Maki

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Helen E. Huff will be held privately on Saturday at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Helen will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting Helen
