Harvey C. Pierson, age 88, of 1104 South 19th Street, passed away early Christmas morning, December 25, 2010 at his home in Escanaba.
Harvey (known to many as Bud) was born, October 28, 1922, in Escanaba, the son of Emil and Anna (Anderson) Pierson. Bud was raised in Whitney and was a 1940 graduate of the Bark River-Harris High School. Following graduation, Bud went to work for the city of Escanaba until being drafted into the United States Army where he served during WWII from 1945 to 1947. On May 19, 1950, Bud was united in marriage to the former Margaret Paeske, at the First Methodist Church in Escanaba, and together the couple made their home and raised their family on Sheridan road in Escanaba. Bud was employed at the Escanaba and Lake Superior (E&LS) Railroad as a Traffic Manager until his retirement. Throughout his life, Bud became quite an accomplished golfer. He would often take Tuesday mornings off of work and happily work Saturdays to golf. A loving wave to his wife Margaret, from the ninth hole of the Escanaba Country Club, was all in a day of golf. Another passion in Bud

We were so saddened to learn of Bud’s passing. Margaret you are in our thoughts. We are thinking of you and your family.
We enjoyed waving to Bud as he drove by and the chit-chat at the mailbox. You both were wonderful neighbors.

I send my most heartfelt condolences and sympathies to Bud’s family. Bud and my grandfather, Ray Taylor, taught me the game of golf at an early age and although my interests at the time (teenage years) were far from the golf course, Bud’s calm demeanor, patience, and great golf game always impressed me. My grandfather considered him a great man and a good friend, which impressed me that much more. I have no doubt that Bud is already teeing it up, up there. Hit it straight and far my friend….

Margaret & family, my condolences to you on Bud’s passing. Bud was my mentor at the E&LS when I started back in 1984. He always took the time to help me but, more importantly, was a true friend that I will never forget. I am very grateful for our paths crossing and the time we shared together.
