Harvey J. Rasmussen, age 88, of Gladstone, passed away Tuesday morning, July 22, 2014, at the Christian Park Village, in Escanaba.
Harvey was born December 31, 1925, in Escanaba, the son of Harvey M. and Loretta (Lynaugh) Rasmussen. Harvey was raised in Gladstone and graduated Gladstone High School in 1943. Following high school, Harvey served in the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Merchant Marine and the U.S. Coast Guard. On February 26, 1955, Harvey was united in marriage to the former Dorothy Olson, in Iowa, and together the couple made their home and began their family in Wisconsin and Grand Rapids, MI, before returning to Gladstone where they have resided for the past 47 years. Harvey was employed at Western Electric/Lucent Technology as a telephone equipment installation tech. for 32 years, retiring in 1984. He was past Commodore and member of the Gladstone Yacht Club. He belonged to the Gladstone American Legion Post #71, American Cribbage Congress, Telephone Pioneer and Gladstone Grass Roots. Harvey enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
In addition to his loving wife of 59 years, Dorothy, Harvey is survived by:

Son: Peter (Kelly) Rasmussen of Grand Rapids, MI
Sister: Jane (Victor) Lancour of Wisconsin
Daughter in law: Grae (Don) LeMire
Grandchildren: Ryan (Erin), Christopher, Kasey, Nicolas, Marc, Kameron, Anna, Dana and Jordan
Great Grandchild: Bailee
Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services and military rites will be held at the convenience of the Rasmussen family near the end of August. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Rasmussen family with arrangements.
