Harry E. Ray 87, formerly of Wells and Escanaba passed away in Mesa, Arizonaon Sunday January 11, 2009 at his residence in Mesa.

Harry was employed by the State of Michigan for many years including the
Michigan State Library in Escanaba.

Harry was a graduate of Powers Spaulding High School and served in the Air
Force during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946.

Harry was a life member of the D.A.V. Escanaba Chapter 24. He also was a
member of the Amvets and The American Legion in Escanaba.

Harry was born on October 8, 1921 the son of Hugh and Florence (Perron) Ray
who preceded him in death.

Harry is survived by his wife Sylvia (Johnson) of 63 years, one son Kelly Ray, fiance, Teresa Klein of Loveland Ohio, one daughter, Cheryl (James) DeLoughary, of Owasso Oklahoma, 5 grandchildren, Shayne DeLoughary, Brent DeLoughary, David Ray, Stephanie {Dean} Kuczynski, and Rebecca Ray all of Wisconsin. He also is survived by 2 great grandchildren Heydon DeLoughary and Nadia Kuczynski. He is also survived by two brothers, Don Ray (Marianne Davis) of Nixa, Mo. and Hugh (Rosemary) Ray of Gladstone, Michigan along with many nieces and nephews.

Harry was an avid Green Bay Packer and Detroit Red Wing fan. In recent years
Harry loved to sit on his patio, smoke a cigar and visit with neighbors.

In Lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Harry may be made to the Delta County Cancer Alliance, envelopes will be available at theSkradski Family Funeral Homes.

    We never met Harry personally and our only memories of him were provided by the stories his son Kelly Ray told. He must have been a good man who will be missed by his family and friends.
