I met Jerry through my friendship with Laurel, which began back when we were in the second grade and living on adjoining blocks. I remember Jerry as a dignified, patient, and honorable man with a dry sense of humor. I recall that at Christmastime he would put tiny santa hats on each and every one of the dozens of wooden duck decoys he had displayed around the home. And while kids will be kids, I never recall seeing him angry. I would certainly agree with others who describe him as a true gentleman.

Jerry was in the same confirmation class at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rogers City as I. He also was in the Class of 1957 at RHS. All those who knew him know he was a wonderful person.
