GEMUENDEN, Eleanor Lee, age 78, of Flint, formerly of Manistique and Gladstone, Died Friday December 17, 2010 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. Eleanor was born on October 20, 1932 in Manistique, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Feathers) Sharkey. She married Francis “Fritz” Gemuenden in Angola, Indiana. Fritz preceded her in death on May 3, 1980. Eleanor had retired from Banner Linen of Flint and was a member of the Little Traverse Band of Odawa Indians. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, and bird watching. She is survived by her children, Carole (Frederick) Glomson, Cheryl (Don) Seymour, Nicholas Gemuenden, and Richard Gemuenden, and grandchildren Randall, Luke, Elizabeth “Betsy” Emily, Sam, and Rochelle. Also survived by her brothers Jack (Ruth) Sharkey and Virgil (Carmen) Sharkey, along with many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Lee Gemuenden.
Graveside services for Eleanor will be held on Saturday, May 14 at 1:30 PM in the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone with Rev. Scott White officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. The Gemuenden family is being assisted by the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone.
