Elaine M. Hasselbach, age 92, of 2500 Triple Creek 23rd Road, passed away peacefully, May 4, 2011, at her home in Cornell. Elaine was born December 5, 1918, in Wyandotte, MI, the daughter of William and Irena (Denney) Prickett. She lived in Wyandotte until 1972 when at that time she moved to Rapid River. Throughout her life, Elaine was employed as a dietitian at Seaway Hospital in Trenton, MI as well as St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. Elaine spent the last three years on the family farm where she loved to watch the birds and the cows. Elaine enjoyed fishing, crocheting, playing bingo and going to the casino. Elaine had three children, the late Gail Cartwright of Gladstone, Ruth Chenier of Cornell and Don Hasselbach of Las Vegas.
Elaine is survived by her daughter: Ruth (Robert) Chenier and son Donald Hasselbach, sister Vera Johnson (age 99 of Wyandotte) and grandchildren, Debbie Malenfant, Mike (Ella) Malenfant, Kathy (Kelly) Neurohr, Lynn (Randy) Peters, Donald Hasselbach Jr., Robert Hasselbach, and Dawn Hasselbach. Also surviving are 7 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, and her husband George, Elaine was preceded in death by her daughter Gail Cartwright, grandson: James Malenfant Jr., five sisters, and two brothers
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Elaine M. Hasselbach will be held at the convenience of her family.
