Douglas James Beauchamp Sr., age 65, of Rock, MI, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2021, at Lakeview Assisted Living in Gladstone.

Doug was born on March 10, 1956, in Escanaba, the son of Ronald and Rose (DeBacker) Beauchamp. Doug grew up in Rock and was a 1974 graduate of Rock High School. Doug began his career in construction in 1974, starting his own company in 1979 called D.J. Beauchamp, Inc. He worked in construction until his retirement in 1991. Doug was very proud of building Bear Creek Nursing Home in Hudson Florida in 1981, and also contracted several major construction projects on K.I. Sawyer AFB.

Doug was of Roman Catholic faith, enjoyed his family and loved raising his children. For several years he traveled from the U.P. to his home in Hudson Florida.

Doug was an avid basketball player, sponsoring an alumni team for a number of years. He also enjoyed attending and watching Nascar races, bowling, spending time at his hunting camp in St. Nicholas, and was a member of the Corvette Club of America. He will be deeply missed by many.

Doug is survived by his children Douglas J. (Jennifer) Beauchamp Jr., Dustin (Jessie) Beauchamp, and Peggy Sue (Jim) Lagina, siblings Barbara Nummilien, Jean (friend Jim) Beauchamp, Thomas (Susan) Beauchamp, Donna (Dennis) Koontz, Daniel Beauchamp, Rebecca Smith, Timothy (Carol) Beauchamp, and Brenda (John) Wery, sister-in-law Sandra Beauchamp, aunt & Godmother Jane Pryal and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Doug is also survived by friends Raymond Delmont and especially Bobby Wadeen who spent significant time with Doug in his last days.

Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Rose Beauchamp, brother David Beauchamp, and brother-in-law Brand Nummilien.

Combined funeral arrangements will lovingly include Doug’s brother David. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone with a funeral service, rosary and memory sharing beginning at 4:20 PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 6:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Perkins, with dinner to follow in the parish hall. Father Larry VanDamme, Father Al Mott and Father William Ssozi officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church in care of the Parking Lot – Building & Grounds Fund.

Doug will be laid to rest in the Rock Cemetery.

    So sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. Doug was always very nice to me. Prayers for his family.
