Debra Lynn Savola

Resided in Gladstone, MI
Died April 16, 2020

Debra Lynn Savola, 64, of Gladstone died of natural causes in her home with her beloved husband early Thursday morning, April 16, 2020.

Debbie was born in Detroit, Michigan to Leonard and Alida Jean Coble but eventually moved to the U.P. where she met and married the love of her life, Thomas Dale Savola, in 1991, who has remained her best friend, her soulmate and her caretaker these 29 years. She loved music, playing the guitar and singing Gospel songs as a young person, which her Mom introduced her to. She remained a woman of prayer and reading God’s word throughout her life. She had a green thumb and kept plants alive all winter long, knit many hats and had a great sense of humor. She accepted Jesus into her heart and He radically changed what she valued. Though she struggled with the physical and mental challenges she was given, she continually yielded her heart to Him and claimed Him as her Lord and Savior to the end of her life. Her “passion of suffering” in this world is complete and she is living the resurrection with Christ.

Debbie is survived by her beloved husband, Tom, brothers, Steve (Cherie) Coble, and Tim (Gidget) Coble, sister, Joanie VanHorn, step-daughter, Sherry (Dean) Colon, step-son, Cory Savola as well as several nieces and nephews whom she loved and prayed for regularly.

She was preceded in death her parents, Leonard and Alida Jean Coble and her sister, Cheryl Coble, whom she joins in glory.

Debbie and Tom are grateful to all the people who helped Debbie on her journey in life including her family, friends, OSF Clinic and Hospital Doctors, the OSF Nursing staff, the on-call nurses, OSF Home Health staff, UPCAP staff, Meals on Wheels staff, OSF Physical Therapy staff, the Ambulance Crew and all who showed patience and love in their care through these many years. God’s love was shown through all your hands that served to care for her through the years on this earth. Thank you and God bless you…you know who you are.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
