Darwood Lee Fix, age 71, of Bark River passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at the St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, WI.

Lee was born on November 5, 1949 in Gladstone, the son of Herbert and Audrey (Thibeault) Fix. He graduated from the Escanaba High School in 1968. He served his country proudly in the United States Army from May 1969 to December 1971. He served with the 75th Airborne Rangers in Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as the Panama Canal Zone. He was a member of the VFW and the 75th Rangers and Ist Calvary Division Association. He was united in marriage to the love of his life Vicki Birman in 1973. Lee worked for Oldsmobile, Harnischfeger, and Marinette Marine before settling in at the paper mill. He began in May of 1981 and retired from New Page in December of 2011. He was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed going to camp, hunting, exploring the country and gardening. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Lee is survived by his wife, Vicki; his son, Adam (Audrey) Fix and their children, Caden and Natalie, his daughters, Amanda (Brian) Caron and their children, Tristen and Wyatt and Karri (Matt) Seawright and their children, Alexis and Hailee; sisters, Vikki Schultz and Tina (Mark) Whitney; sister-in-law, Ann Fix and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Doug Fix and brother-in-law, Sandy Schultz.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 19 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells with Fr. Tim Ferguson officiating followed by Military Honors presented by the Delta County Veterans Council.

    My wife and I send our sincere condolences to Lee’s entire family. Lee was another good guy that left this world way to early. Rest in Peace Lee!!!!

    My uncle Lee will surely be missed by all who knew him, he is one of the very few people in my life I have nothing but respect for, he will forever be a true hero in my mind. Much love to Vicki and the rest of the family.

    Dear Vicki & family, Scott & I were sad to hear of Lee’s passing. Last time we saw the two of you was at the 50th class reunion. We always had a good time bringing in the new year at your home in our younger years. Love and prayers to your family.
