Cheryl Lee Marie Phalen, age 75, of Gladstone, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at her home.

 

Cheryl was born on December 13, 1948, in Escanaba, the daughter of Robert and Betty Jean (Waeghe) Young. She grew up in Gladstone and was a Class of 1967 graduate of Gladstone High School. She married David C. Phalen in 1968 and they created many wonderful memories. Cheryl also enjoyed crocheting and knitting, going to camp, riding their Harley. She also was a very talented cook and baker, known for hosting wonderful holiday dinners. Most of all, she cherished her family and her pets. Cheryl was simply the best.

 

Cheryl is survived by her loving husband David C.; sons David A. Phalen and Robert Phalen; brother Jim (Terri) Young; sisters Kathy (Jay) Pepin, Luann (Archie) Henderson, and Bobbi (Derrell) Coates; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law David and Elaine Phalen, daughter Dayna Phalen, daughter-in-law Becky Phalen, granddaughter Cynthia Lee, and brother-in-law Jay Pepin.

    Kathy and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I didn’t really know Cheri, but I grew up just across the alley from your home and knew your parents, and of course Kathy. Our thoughts are with all of you.

    I am so sorry to see this news. I worked with Cherie at Baybank. She was a kind woman and a hard worker. She faced so many tragedies in her life with grace and dignity. My condolences to Dave, her children, and her siblings. Rest in peace, Cherie!

    Sorry for your loss just had a nice memory of Cheri. Patti and I walked across town (Gladstone) with chef Boyardee pizza in hand, and had a little homemade pizza party. Three young girls life was simpler than.55+yrs

    The Sullivan family were saddened to hear about the passing of Cheri. She was a great lady and very friendly. You’re all in our thoughts and prayers.

    Dave, I want to express my sincere condolences to you and your family for the loss of Cheryl. I remember her from high school as a very friendly, and accepting person. I am sure that she was loving wife, mother, and grandmother. My prayers are with you at this most difficult time.

    I worked with Cherie for 9 1/2 years at Baybank, and I will reiterate exactly what
    Judy Ebbison, Jackie Mott, etc. etc. etc.
    I also played Pool with Cherie and Her Sister
    they were a Good Pool Team and and an
    Awesome Challenge. Plus we also road
    Harleys with Dave and Cherie. God must have needed an Angel because He took Cherie Home. Very Very Very Sorry to Dave and the

    DC and family, I am just so sad in hearing this of Cherie. We had a nice long chat last year and it was so nice to catch up with everything.. I will always cherish all our Harley trips and rides. Cherie was a wonderful friend and will be deeply missed by all. Hugs and prayers.

    I’m so sorry to hear of Cheri’s passing. She was such a sweet person. I remember as kids being 4 years younger & following her all over when we were up at Camp. Always good memories of her. Thoughts & prayers to her family.

    Robi Dave so sorry to hear about your mom.i have memories of her from more than 40 years ago. My condolences.
