Charles F. VanSloten Jr., age 69, of 1112 2nd Avenue North, died early morning Sunday October 22, 2006 at the Christian Park Health Care Facility in Escanaba.
Charles was born December 9, 1936, in Los Angeles, CA, the son of Charles F. and Helen (Rost) VanSloten Sr. He was raised in Los Angeles and attended and graduated from the Montebello High School. On August 17, 1956, Charles enlisted in the United States Army, serving during the Korean War Conflict, and was honorably discharged from the Army on July 15, 1959. Following his discharge, Charles returned to California and went to work for his father, Charles Sr., in his carpentry business, making furniture items such as, tables, desks, stereo cabinets and curio cabinets. Charles eventually relocated to the Delta County/ Escanaba area where he resided for the remainder of his life. Charles enjoyed listening to music, watching football and watching formula one racing. He will be deeply missed.
