Carole Daniels

Resided in Escanaba, MI
Died October 28, 2009

Carole Jean Daniels, age 85, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully, Wednesday evening October 28, 2009, at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
Carole was born October 1, 1924, in Green Bay, the daughter of Rudolph C. and Minnie M. (Hartmann) Halfpap. She was raised in Green Bay and graduated from West High School. In her youth in Green Bay, she developed a lifelong love of outdoor sports, including hunting, fishing, horseback riding, golf and swimming. Her swimming skills allowed her to save two people from drowning, and her humility caused her to rarely mention it afterward. On April 14, 1956, Carole was united in marriage to William G. Daniels. Together the newlyweds made their home and began their family in Green Bay, before relocating to Escanaba in 1960. In addition to raising their family, Carole and Bill purchased the Credit Bureau of Escanaba and Northern Service Bureau in 1973. They operated the business as a team and enjoyed the experience immensely because it allowed them to play an even greater part in the community they loved. Carole and Bill formed many friendships through membership in the Highland Golf Club since 1962. Carole enjoyed contributing to the club and the Upper Peninsula Ladies

Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Carole and I were in the Altrusa Club together and I always enjoyed our times together. Carole and I had a joke going for many years; we had a little silver box that we mailed back and forth and it always contained something of no value. What fun memories. She will be missed!

One of the Grand Dames of Golf in the UP, Carol was. I was inspired by her love of the game and of life. She truly will be missed by many.

I was so sorry to learn of Carole’s passing. She was a classmate at West High, Green Bay, and I have many memories of her wit and ready laugh. I wish I was able to extend my sympathy in person, but will keep the family in prayer.

What a wonderful, full life Mrs. Daniels led. Cherish the memories of times together and speak of her often to Bill and Grace so that they, too, will remember her vibrance. The human side of us wants to hold on to our loved ones forever and there is no sadness like the sadness we feel when we lose someone we love. I hope that you can find comfort in the memories and the thought that Mrs. Daniels rests peacefully now.

The ladies from IRCC want to let you know how special your mother was. We know her because of golfing in the UP’s. We have missed her the last few years because of poor health but we didn’t forget her.

Cole, my deepest sympathy to you on the loss of your mom. I lost mine almost a year ago and know how difficult a time this is for you. She was a great lady. I can still hear her laugh and hear her voice. I also remember how much she loved you. You were her boy.

I always had a special place in my heart for Carole. I knew her from golf for many years. I remember having so much fun at the Highland Ladies Open which she was such a part of. I was so happy when they named the tournament after her and so saddened by the fact that it is not a popular tournament anymore. She like me, always felt that golf was playing your own game and that there are too many scrambles today. She was so dedicated by attending and playing in all the UP’s and being a friend to everyone. We have lost a very neat lady and my sympathy goes out to all her family.

Cole: Your mother was a dear friend and former golf memeber of the Highland Golf Club. I worked side by side with her on the UP Golf Tournament held at the Highland and also on the tournament named after her. We surely will try to keep this tournament going in her honor even though the traditional game of golf is a thing of the past. You have my deepest sympathy and my prayers go out to you and your family.
