Beverly J. Peterson, age 73, of 1617 Minneapolis Avenue, Gladstone died unexpectedly Tuesday evening April 5, 2005 at the Marquette General Hospital in Marquette following a brief illness.
Beverly was born July 23, 1931 in Gladstone the daughter of Alphonse and Alice (Rothschild) Creten. She was raised in Gladstone and participated in ice skate racing and girl’s softball. She was a 1949 graduate of Gladstone High School where she was on the cheerleading team.

On May 3, 1952 she married her high school sweetheart Peter D. Peterson at All Saints Church in Gladstone. They made their residence in Gladstone where they raised their four children. Beverly was co-owner of Pete’s Stop in Gladstone and also the Gladstone Mobil Mart with her husband. She also had been employed at Mead Corporation and the Mead Employee’s Credit Union.
Beverly’s hobbies included golfing at the Gladstone Golf Club, bowling at the Midway Lanes and Holiday Bowl, but most important to her was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was an avid college basketball fan and especially enjoyed cheering for the Michigan State Spartans.

In addition to her husband Peter, survivors include her:

Mother: Alice Creten of Gladstone

Two sons: Peter H. (Sherri) Peterson of Gladstone; Michael (Lesley) Peterson of Escanaba

Two daughters: Holly (Jeff) Canull of Escanaba; Kathryn (James) Chenier of Plymouth, MI

Three grandchildren: Jake, Steven and Cameron Peterson

Special friends: Frank and Nancy Peterson

Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts.

She was preceded in death by her father Alphonse Creten.

Beverly’s family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of Christian Burial services celebrating the life of Beverly J. Peterson will follow at 2:00 P.M. at All Saints Church with Rev. Fr. Arnold Grambow officiating. Luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.

    My deepest sympathy to you and your family on your loss. I’ve been in contact with Corrine as to Bev’s condition and everyone was optimistic that she could get through this. I first met Bev when I started at Mead back in 1960 so I’ve known her for a long time. Be strong and you’ll get through this terrible time.
