Betty Mae Erickson, age 93, of Gladstone, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba.

 

Betty was born December 17, 1930 in Escanaba, the daughter of John Norden and Ruth (Thorsen) Miller. She was raised in Stonington and graduated from Gladstone High School in 1949. Following high school, Betty worked as a candy maker in Milwaukee until she was united in marriage to Theodore Erickson on December 16, 1950. Together, they made their home in Gladstone where Betty worked at the Gladstone Credit Union. Betty was a wonderful cook. She also enjoyed going to shows at the theater and the monthly get togethers with the Neighborhood Club. Betty’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, who will miss her dearly.

 

Betty is survived by her children Bonnie (Peter) DeMay, Connie (Ernest) Hadel, Cindy (Scott) Mitchell, and Linda Erickson; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as several great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Theodore Erickson, brother Gilbert Norden, and grandson Matthew Wiltzius.

 

Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 3 PM to 5 PM at First Lutheran Church in Gladstone. Services honoring Betty will begin at 5 PM with Pastor Elisabeth Daniels officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Betty will be laid to rest in Fernwood Cemetery next to her husband.
