Died November 4, 2012

Gladstone, MI

Bernita “Bea” Waeghe has joined our Heavenly Father, in eternal life, after suffering from complications due to a heart attack on Sunday morning, November 4, 2012.

Bea was the last of 9 children born to William (Billy) and Mary Girard, on March 18, 1930. She graduated from Gladstone High School in 1948. On June 25, 1949 she married Edmund “Babe” Waeghe, during their 55 year marriage, they lovingly raised 5 children and was a lifelong resident of Gladstone. Babe proceeded her in death in 2004.
In Bea’s younger years, Bea worked as a waitress at the Busy Bee Cafe and then at Dehlin’s Drug Store as an apprentice Pharmacy Assistant, which she was very proud of. After the arrival of her first child, Bea felt it was vital to be home with her children and became a homemaker. She dedicated her life to the Lord and to her family. She was a devoted member of All Saints Church in Gladstone, participating in many church activities, including being the organist for services. Bea always loved playing the piano and singing, she was self taught and many times you could catch her “tinkling the ivory” when stopping by for a visit with her. Even through all her trials and tribulations, her devotion to her family and her faith in the Lord always remained her 1st priority.

Bea loved life, and she often amused her family with her countless little “quirky” sayings that kept her children with a S-M-I-L-E on their faces. Each Christmas, she meticulously placed each strand of tinsel on the family tree, transforming it into the most gorgeous Christmas Tree any child would be in awe of on Christmas morning, along with each gift that was always wrapped to perfection and beauty. She loved to decorate for each holiday throughout the entire year which always made home a warm and welcome place to be.

She will always be remembered as a truly amazing woman, her love and support of her family is undeniable and she will be deeply, deeply missed by her children who deeply love her with all their hearts.

Bea leaves behind 3 daughters, Gloria (Steve) Kohnert of Gladstone, Patty (Jeff) Lundquist of Ford River, Mia (Joe) Maki, 2 sons, Mike Waeghe, who lived with her and Terry (Regina) Waeghe, all of Gladstone. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, as well as her In- laws Marguerite Girard, Betty Waeghe, Irene (Don) Weber, Angel Waeghe, Bill (Joyce) Waeghe and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her devoted husband of 55 years, Edmund J. “Babe”, her parents, William (Billy) and Mary Girard, her 4 brothers and their spouses, William Jr., Lowell, Adolph(Betty), and Eddy(Agnes)Girard, her 4 sisters and their spouses, Ione (Wilbur) Whitburn, Louella Clark, Gloria (Earl “Bud”) Bourdlais, Gerry (Tom) Gerovac, special niece, who was more like her sister, Sharon Weber, her mother and father in-law, Charles and Flora(Reubens) Waeghe, as well as brothers in law, Louis “Butch” Waeghe and Robert Waeghe, grandchild Nicholas Maki, great grandchild, Zachary Longnecker and numerous nieces and nephews, have all arrived in Heaven before her.

At the request of the Waeghe family, no public visitation will be held. Mass of Christian Burial services to celebrate the life of Bea Waeghe is scheduled for Friday, at 6:00PM, at the All Saints Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Ronald Timock officiating. Luncheon will follow in the All Saints Parish Hall. Contributions in Bea

Gloria, Mia and family, I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your beautiful and loving mother. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. I found this poem and thought it might be of some comfort to you! MEET YOU AT THE GATE! A beautiful garden now stands alone, missing the one who nurtured it
    But now she is gone,
Her flowers still bloom, and the sun it still shines,
But the rain is like tear drops, for the ones left behind,
The weeds lay waiting to take the gardens beauty away,
But the beautiful memories of its keeper are in our hearts to stay,
she loved every flower even some that were weeds,
So much love she would plant with each little seed,
But just like her flowers she was part of Gods plan,
So when it was her time he reached down his hand,
He look through the Garden searching for the best,
That’s when he found Bea, it was her time to rest,
It was hard for those who loved her, to just let her go,
But God had a spot in his garden, that needed a gentle soul,
So when you start missing Mom, remember if you just wait,
When God has a spot in his garden, She’ll meet you at the gate….

i am sorry for your loss. Know that I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. It is such a difficult time when our loved ones leave us. Take care,

If flowers grow in heaven, then pick a bunch for me, place them in my mother’s arms and tell her they’re from me. Tell her that I love and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for awhile. Rest in peace Mom, I miss you so very much.

Gloria, Patty, Mia, Mike and Terry,I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
