As like many others, my memories of Amy are all fond ones. I remember I believe her senior year, my junior, we were teacher aides together at the Elementary school. We would always spend our walks back and forth chatting. Amy always had that radiant smile on her face. And no matter what was going on, she always had words of wisdom or encouragement for me. My life has truely been blessed in knowing her. And as many others have said, I can only echo their thoughts, in saying that she is surely surrounding the throne of God, and rejoiceing with the angels. She was surely a great example of how each of us should strive to be more Christ like. She will surely be missed, and my thoughts and prayers are with the Chenier and Kositzke families during this time of loss.

Amy radiated God’s love. My heart grieves for your loss and the pain of seperation from such tangible beauty and joy. My prayers will continue for you. I find myself praying for Amy–but asking for Amy’s prayers as she is so likely in the presence of Jesus and the communion of saints. We share the same birthday so I will remember her when I thank God for the gift of our creation on Feb. 7. I would love to hear more of her visions and her spiritual journey. May her desire for her life to evangelize others continue to be fullfilled.

I was shocked and saddened to learn Amy had passed away. As her biology teacher at GHS I remember Amy as a bright, kind hearted gal who always had a smile on her face. I’m sure she is in heaven since God must have had a special job waiting for her up there! Deepest sympathy to all the Chenier family.

I sure will miss her smiling face and gentle ways. I would see her at the Hospital Chapel during Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, YMCA, and at school where we worked together. She was always a shining ray of God’s light. She accomplished many important things in her short life as shared by her many students. We can all continue the work Amy started on earth by witnessing God’s love to others as she did!!

I remember Amy as a freshman in one of my first years of teaching. She was such a cooperative student. I sometimes keep samples of student work from year to year. I kept a couple of projects that she had done that year and recently came across them while I was purging my cupboard. I think she got a real bang out of seeing them again. Amy was quite artistic and meticulous even at fourteen. Later, it was so nice to work with her at the middle school, and it was an easy transition from teacher/student to colleagues. Working with her was especially fun when we were on the same team. She was extremely well organized and helped to keep “her kids” on track. She did so many extra things for them and all the students. She even led the Washington D.C. trip and supervised all that fundraising. That was a huge job! I remember 9/11/2001 when the towers were attacked. We had just gotten the news at the end of first hour. Amy and I shared second hour prep and sat in my room, in front of the t.v., and just cried and prayed together. She had such a strong faith. Amy knew how to have fun, too. Whether she was riding her bike or hiking around in nature, she was enjoying God’s creations. She took beautiful photographs of her favorite places, too. She was so upbeat even when she fought the cancers. She was always reassuring the rest of us that she would be okay. She had that great, easy smile and infectious laugh. I’d hear her half-way down the hall yucking it up with some student. That’s what I’ll miss most. Todd, Nancy, Frank, and family, you are in my thoughts and prayers. May you find some comfort in knowing that Amy deeply touched many, many people in her short life.

I met Amy in the Algebra For All class at Bay College where she used to get so excited when she came across a new way of helping her students learn. She had such a positive attitude, big heart for her students, and infectious smile! Amy was an inspiration – whenever I’m tempted to complain, I’ll remember how Amy met challenges with positive determination and a big smile. If everyone could be a little bit more like Amy, or be inspired by Amy’s love for others, wouldn’t the world be a better place! I’m sure she’s brightening up the spirits of everyone in heaven now.

Dear Todd, Frank, Nancy, and family: Our deepest sympathy and prayers to you all on the death of Amy. Christine, Ian and I have been praying for her healing for a long time and, although God’s answer was not what we hoped for, we, and I’m sure you all as well, trust that His answer was the very best answer for all of us. We will continue to hold you all up in our prayers and ask Amy to pray for us all. God Bless you.

Amy was a caring, positive, faithful, beautiful person. Her smile could light up a room and even when she was suffering she remained cheerful. She was the strongest person I have ever met, as well as the most caring. In November when she was sick she still took the time to call me and my husband to tell us she was thinking of us while our wedding approached and was praying for us. It takes a strong, loving person to look beyond her suffering and pray and think of others and Amy was definately that kind of person. I remember her, even as a teenager, coming to our house and playing in the sandbox with us. She was a great cousin whom my family holds very dear to our hearts. My thoughts and prayers go out to Todd, you are an amazing husband to Amy and she loved you so Very much and you will always be part of the family, and to Frank, Nancy, Mike, Michelle, & Angie that God will help you all find the strength to make it through this sad time and that knowing Amy is in Heaven with the Heavenly Father will help you to move on in life remembering her beauty and her smile. Amy was an inspiration and will be greatly missed by all of us. Our love and prayers go out to her family and friends.

    Dear Chenier Family,
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you all. Fr. Chris had Amy’s death put in the petitions this weekend at Sacred Heart Parish here in Munising and AuTrain so we are sending many prayers to you all. Thank God you have your faith to fall on after being on the Cross with Amy during her illness. Like Mary you are all being given special graces to walk through this valley. Thankfully, you have a family full of faith that shines like a star to so many. Amy now will be a great blessing to you all for the rest of your lives. Call on her often when you need help. She will be a great avenue to God as my mother has been for me.
God’s peace and blessing+ to all of you

Condolences to all of Amy’s family and friends. I work at Delta-Schoolcraft Intermediate School District and knew Amy through the many professional development events she attended. Amy was intently interested in new ways of teaching and reaching her students. She participated with enthusiasm and always had a positive attitude. It was obvious that she loved her profession and her students. I, and I believe the area educational community at large, will miss her. Sincerely,

I am certain I never saw Amy without a smile on her face. She fought her illness with grace, courage, and a deep faith in God’s will and by doing, left an indelible impression on me. Amy was my “student” since August through Algebra for All. Even though I only knew her a short time her smile is unforgettable. She was a great student who truly cared about learning the algebra activities we did in class. She was great at asking lots and lots of questions 🙂 I and many other teachers will miss seeing her smiling face. We are all better for having known her.

For the past couple years, I’ve been Amy’s substitute in her classroom. I feel that I was blessed to have known her. I’ve never met anyone in my life who was as positive as her. I’ve never spoken to her without her face lighting up with a smile; whether she was talking about the kids in her class or her husband, Todd or how proud she was when her brother was ordained. She was so happy with her life and proud of her life; although it was too short – it was fulfilled. I will keep her family in my prayers.

I knew Amy for years growing up out in Flat Rock and going to school together. She was always able to make you smile with her laugh. You should be proud to have raised such a wonderful young lady who impacted everyone she knew. God Bless you all, and remember Amy will always be looking down on us.

Dear Father Mike, Frank and Nancy
On February 7th, 1977 God sent his angels into his heavenly garden and had them choose thirty two beautiful, delicate and fragrant roses. The first group the angels chose were pastel pink for this beautiful baby girl who would grace this earth with her tender beauty and vibrant smile. The angels continued to walk amongst the garden while gathering a cluster of the most amazing pure white roses. They had the fortitude to know Amy would grace this world with gentle intentions and the purest of love. The angels now chose the deepest red roses whose colors would radiate for all to see. Once again the angels foresaw Amy’s heart would be molded, shaped and formed in the likeness of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Amy’s enormous heart will eternally touch our lives and remain etched in our hearts forever. Lastly the Lord requested the angels to choose a final group of the deepest golden roses from his heavenly garden. It is with these golden roses our Heavenly Father has paved the path for Amy to join him in his heavenly garden. Now the bouquet is complete and Amy dances about freely, with the angels, in the Lord’s heavenly garden while resting peacefully in our Heavenly Father’s arms. Our love and prayers are with you.

    Dear Chenier Family,
I had the privilege of working w/Amy at the Middle School when I lived in Gladstone. I often subbed in the office and Amy was a literal ray of sunshine! She was always laughing, upbeat, and had the true spirit of what teaching was all about….she was in her profession because she loved kids!

Amy was my favorite babysitter growing up, and I was always happy to run into her around town or to hear about her great work at the middle school. I enjoyed getting to know her a little better through wedding planning and making her tic tac shakers=D She had a great laugh and was always a fun person to be around. Our love and prayers are with Todd,Frank,Nancy, and family. Amy’s mom, Nancy, and I were pregnant at the same time. We were the best of friends so decided to call our girls Amy Renee and Amy Lynn. Amy and Amy were also best of friends until the age of 12 when life drifted us all apart. Amy Lynn was a very sweet and loving child always smiling and giving hugs freely. More recently I had the pleasure of meeting Amy Lynn as a beautiful, spirit-filled young lady still with her wide-dimpled smile and loving hugs. She so inspired me with her gentle spirit and her faith-filled testimonies. She definitely touched my life as I know she has so many others. She will truly be missed but I know we will meet again.

My name is Courtney VanDamme, I’m from Gladstone and I remember Mrs.Amy Chenier Kositzke. She was my 8th grade special education teacher and she is the only teacher that i have had throughout my school years that has treated us with special needs as a normal person, she brought a smile to each and every day, even when she would not feel good or was down in the dumps she would hold her head up high and make the best out of each and everyday. She helped me get through the hardest year of my life when i lost my great grandfater, all i did was walk into her class and she asked what was wrong and she knew how to make me smile. She taught all of us students here at Gladstone how to love and make the best out of life. She will always be the best teacher Gladstone School Systems will and have ever seen. Mrs. Chenier will always be with us in our hearts at Gladstone Schools…. Miss and Love you Mrs.Chenier,

I am so sorry that Amy’s life was cut so short. She was one of the most good-hearted people I have ever met in my life. I have fond memories of all the things we did growing up, and all the laughs we shared. She was an inspiration to me when I got sick, because she handled everything she went through like a true champ and still continued to smile even though I know it must have been hard to go through. Right before I left to go downstate, she came over & brought me a glass guardian angel & told me that she hoped the angel would watch over me & keep me safe & well. Someone had done that for her, and the fact that she had taken the time to do it for me has meant a lot to me. She is a person who forever changed my life & always reinforced the belief that there are truly good people in the world. Heaven is lucky to have her, although her smiling face will be missed down here.

Gods peace and blessing+ to all of you

I am grateful I knew her. May God bless her parents, family and friends with the same grace and courage and faith as they grieve her passing.

Even after her diagnosis she continued to bless us with her smiles, her teaching and her passion for life. She will be greatly missed. I am sure God has a special role for her in heaven.

My deepest sympathies go out to Amy’s family.

Frank, Nancy & Family, we are so saddened to hear of Amy’s death. We met Amy at an ACS Relay in Gladstone, and will always remember her courageous speech and contagious smile.

To the entire Chenier family – We will always remember Amy in our prayer and minds. She touched so many people as a teacher and a great person.

Amy had the best laugh ever! Very contagious and truly heartfelt. I always felt invited to laugh with her because Amy loved to share her joy and wanted to know and share in everyone’s joy. I will miss her inviting, open heart and warm laugh.

Angie – my heart goes out to you on the loss of a great sister. May her memories and infectious laughter live on in your heart.

    Blessings to all,

    To Amy’s family and friends:

Amy was my favorite babysitter growing up, and I was always happy to run into her around town or to hear about her great work at the middle school.

It is obvious from reading the rest of the notes here that Amy was such a positive presence to so many during her time with us. What a beautiful witness to her faith.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Amy was such a great person! I enjoyed getting to know her a little better through wedding planning and making her tic tac shakers=D She had a great laugh and was always a fun person to be around. She was a great role model as a special education teacher and I will miss being able to bounce teacher questions off of her. I know she is in a much better place, but I will miss her. I love you Chenier family! You are in my prayers.

I worked with Amy for only a year, but I still have fond memories of her and her “closet” classroom. She helped me dig up stumps in my backyard and sledghammer out my tub when remodeling our bathroom. She was a wonderful person. My deepest sympathies go out to the family.

Amy…it’s been over eight years since your passing. I was one of her students, my name is Kimberly King. I wrote a paper about her my senior year of high school. It was an essay about who our hero was and mine was her. She was my middle school teacher and I haven’t forgotten about her. She was and still is an angel in my eyes. I was broken knowing that she had left us so soon. I miss her everyday. I am so sorry to the family and I know I am late to be speaking about her I just, I was young when she passed so I was scared. I wish all the best to her family. Thank you for everything Amy.
