Amber J. Winnie, age 6, of 409 South 13th Street, Escanaba, MI died unexpectedly Thursday evening November 17, 2005 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
Amber was born December 18, 1998 in Escanaba the daughter of Edward and Barbara (Debassige) Winnie. Amber currently was a student at the Delta Schoolcraft Intermediate School District Learning Center in Escanaba. She cherished playing with her brothers and sister and especially liked attending school. Amber loved flirting with boys and always had a smile on her face. She was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Indian Tribe.

Mother: Barbara Winnie of Escanaba

Father: Edward Winnie of Lower Michigan

Brothers: Aaron and Daniel Dougherty at home

Sister: Shayna Dougherty at home

Half Brothers: Timothy and James Winnie of Romulus, MI

Maternal Grandparents: Jean Debassige of Qwinn, MI and Joe Debassige of Rapid River, MI.

Paternal Grandfather: Leland (Connie) Winnie of Monroe, MI

Several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins

She was preceded in death by her Paternal Grandmother Joy Coupoulis and uncle Joey Nikunen.

    I did not know Amber, personally, but I do know that her loss will be traumatic for the family. Barb, I cannot imagine what you are going through, right now. Please know that I am here if you want to talk or if you need anything. Tom, my condolences. I know that Amber’s passing will be very difficult for her siblings, too. You are all in my prayers.
