Zolton Zemar, 81, of Cornell, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Zolton was born on March 16, 1932, in Cleveland, Ohio. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1949 and served in Korea. He was wounded twice in Korea and received the Purple Heart with Cluster. He also received the Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars and the U.N. Service Medal. He then worked for Industrial Construction in Cleveland,Ohio for 25 years.

He was united in marriage on November 2, 1957 to Kathryn Pfeiler. After they were married they lived in Parma, Ohio, and then moved to the Upper Peninsula in 1981.

Zolton was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret, his father, John, two sisters, Florence and Margaret and one brother, Steve.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn, son Zolly (Jan) Zemar, daughter, Tami (Earl) Grandchamp, son, Allen Zemar and daughter Lori Walker. He has nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Irene, and one brother, John.

He loved carpentry, fishing, flea marketing and was known for helping others. He was a man of great wisdom and few words, but when he spoke people listened. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by many.
